HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-04-2001 City Council Agenda PacketMemo To: From: Date: Subject: Mayor and City Council Joan Pisani December 4, 2001 Civic Center Master Plan At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 Christopher Noll presented six Civic Center site plans in conceptual form. His presentation included four options using a combination of existing and new buildings and two options of tearing down existing buildings and building new facilities. After the presentation the City Council narrowed down the options. The Council requested that a new Senior/Community Center be placed near the Corporation Yard, so current programs in the existing building would not be disrupted during construction. After the architects incorporated this input into the master plan, it was presented to the Task Force and then to the facility user groups. The consensus and recommendation from the groups was to not squeeze a new center in that location. For the short term, programs could be relocated to portable buildings or off site locations. This would be disruptive but everyone felt, in the long run, the best location for the Center would be closer to City Hall. After this input, the Task Force requested that the architects present an additional site plan with the Senior/Community Center in the middle of the property. At the City Council meeting on December 11, 2001 Christopher Noll and Elizabeth McLeod from Noll and Tam Architects will be making the final preSentation. The presentation will include three site plans, the program and phasing summary for each option, and construction costs. Attachments: 1. Project Summary Form 2. Phasing Summary 3.
