WRI!~EN COMNL~jICATIONS 1. South Bay Construction Co. re Street Lighting The Secretary read a letter dated June D, 1957 from the South Bay Construction Co. signed by Robert L. Crane in which they requested that the pole lines for the Sevrens property be reconsidered, at least in respect to tha~ portion of the property which South Bay Ccnst. Co. adjoins Merrlva!e. re Street Lighting The Secretary read a letter from the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. dated June 5, 1957, i~ which they ex- pressed cooperation with the City Planners regardinn the placement of poles within the City of Saratoga. Com~missioner Cameron moved for approval of the use permit. Carried unanimously. IV MATTERS HELD UNDE~ f~DVISEMEET 1. C 2 - Glass Commissioner ]Bennett made the followin~ com~.~ent: "The original recommendation of the Planning Com- mission of ~he City of Saratoga in the Glass case request for reaching - was referred back to the Com- mission by the City Council for further study in view of the proposed freeway route which may affect this which property and in view of other matters/may have affect on tkis property add other property in the area. The Planning Com~isslon, in accordance with the request of the City Council, has completed this further study and now recommends as follows: 1. That the Glass property for it's entire length C 2 along Allendale Ave. be rezoned ~:~4 for a Glass minimum depth of 160' from the present north boundary of Allendale. 2. That the small triangle of land now zoned RE:B4 lying to the north which may result from this proposed minimum depth zoning be rezo~ed to El:B2 and thaa the zoning of the remainder of the Glass property be unchanged from it's pre- sent RI:B2 zoning." Mr. Bergues and Mr. Jackson asked the Commission whether this would be upgrading the property and they were ans- wered in the affirmative. Commissioner Bennett's statement was put in the form -3- of a motion which was seconded and carried unani- mously. DIr. Pierce Davies requested the sending of the tentative map to the County irrLmediately, stating that it was=notza legal matter but was up to the discretion of the Planning Commission. Chairman Crisp stated that the Planning Commission was merely an advisory body and since the Council had not passed on this there was a question in his mind as to whether the tentative map could be sent to the County at this time. He asked Assistant City Attorney as to his opinion. The Assistant City Attorney stated that the sub- mission of a tentative map at the present time is not legally correct since zoning has not been changed. Commissioner Uebster moved that the Commission do not grant approval of submission of tentative map until the Council approves the rezoninE. Carried unanimously. 2. V 27 - J. L. Non,~ood, Jr. Commissioner Pasetta stated that he h~d reviewed the property and saw no objection to a six foot variance since the house next door already had a six foot side setback. Park Verner, engineer, who stated that he had surveyed V 27 the property, explained the topography but made no J.L.Norwood recommendations. Chairman Crisp asked the members of the Commission whether, or not they wished to take this under advise- ment for another two weeks. At this point Mr. ~orwood protested vigorously, stating that he had been given the same answer two weeks ago, at which time the Commissioners were to look at the property and that he felt that a decision should be made at the current meeting. Commissioner Webster moved that the variance be denied with the privilege, without additional cost, of submittln~ additional information if available. NEW ZONING PE'2ITiOiqS The Secretary read a proposed resolution seeking amendment to the zoning ordinance in connection with a strip of land of uniform 160' width bounded on the south by the present porthotly boundary of Allendale, on the west by the easterly boundary of the lands of ~ ~ a~d. Florence Glass and on the east by the west- erly boundary of the lands of the Callferrule Pacific Res. No. PC-2 Title Co., and also a triangular shaped parcel of land south of Allendale Ave. end fully described in the resolution. The purpose of the resolution was to direct the Clerk to set a time and place for public hearing. Commissioner Bennett.-moved that the resolution be adopted. Carried unanimously. The date of July 8, 1957 was set for the hearing and the Secretary was directed to publish the same in accordance x~ith the law. At this point Commissioner Webster brought up the atte _ m r of contour maDs in connection with use permits Contour ma'os and variances and it ;.~as universally a~reed to reeuire and Dla~s five foot contour maps when an application is made for use permits and variances. At the same time it was suggested that a mandatory furnishing of plats of the subdivision or locabion maps of the property be sub- mitted at the same time. -5- V COMMITTEE REPORTS A. ARCHITECTUP~A~D SITE CONTROL None B. SUBDIVISION 1. SD #25 - Wandemere Co. Messrs. Woolworth and Waiters appeared before the Subdivision Committee and requested a continuance of SD,~25 thirty days in connection with their subdivision re- Wandemere Co. quest. ~hey indicated that this extension is volun- tarily being given to the Planning Commission. 2. SD ~30 - Mt. Eden Estates The Secretary reported that the Planning Dept. had SD, Y30 indicated that this subdivision was not ready for Mt. Eden Estates discussion since soil studies were still being com- pleted. The Commission requested an extension of thirty days from date from Mr. Verner, engineer representing the Mt. Eden Estates. Idr. Verner voluntarily granted this extension. 3. SDR #31 - Bart Oiraudc SPRY31 Commissioner Bennett moved for approval subject to the H.Giraudo County conditions. Approved unanimously. At this point in the meeting Mrs. ICeller of Pierce Rd., Mrs. Keller Saratoga, .cautioned the Commission about the Pierce Pierce Rd. Lo~ Size Road area and asked that lot sizes be Kept up. The Secretary indicated a Resolution C which called for a public hearing in connection with an ordinance govern- Resolution C ing lot sizes, setbacks and frontages to take the place of two emergency ordinances currently in effect. Commissioner Higgins moved for the approval of the resolution which directed the Secretary to set a hear- ing dabe for bhe above. Carried unanimously. -6- Commlssicner Pasett~, at this point, state4 that he wished to place before the Commission a proposition of up~rading property north of Cox Ave. between S2rato~a a~d Prospect Avenues, starting with quarter acres up through third acres and possibly half acres. He stated that he merely brought this point up for consideration and did not wish any particular discus- sion about it at this time.
