A. REZONING

~he Secretary explained the his bory of past zoming

Commissioner Crisp stated thab the application seemed

George Kocher, 1~1~9 Big Basin Way, Saratoga, stated
thab since no master plam existed, gramring of this

application would be setting a pattern for smaller
lot sizes.
jules Duo,.1906 West San Carlos, San Jose, speaking
for the applicant stated that other formers in the
area were in favor of one-quarter acre lots and that
the high cost of development made it impossible to
subdkvide larger lots. Duc requested e continuance
until the next Fleeting to get more facts and supporting
opinions.
Commissioner i~iggh]s moved that the matter be taken
under advisement.
Ed Bean, Monte Serene, requested clarification on
whether the Commission would. accept further evidence
in the case if the matter was ta. ken under advisement.
He further expressed his feeling ~hat such evidence
would be inadmissable.
Wibh the consent of his second, Commissioner Higgins
withdrew his earlj. er motion.
Commissioner Webster moved that the petition be denied.
Carrie~ unanimously.

1. Report on proposed Civic Center Site
Commissioner Higglns read a report on the proposed
Civic Center site. The repert was in the form of a
Civic letter to the City Council, recommending purchase of
Center
Site the site.
After discassion ef bhe report by the Co.mmissioners
Mr. Bean asked the Commission if they were approving
the purchase as a good invesbment regardless of its
ultimate use.

Commissioner Crisp stated that iF the site could not
ultimately be used ~s a Civic Center the property
was a good investment.
Leo Deprie, 1 Park Place, Saratoga, asked why the
Cia3r should pay ~?,D00.00 an acre when he knew of
property for mle in the area for ;~5,500.00 per acre.
Commissioner Crisp stated that the Commission con-
sidered the price reasonable and a ~ood investment.
i,ir. Bean asked if the Commission had given any con-
sideration to possible location of a Jail at the
Civic Center site.
Commissioner Higgins stated ti~a~ the Commission had
studied the problem in s genersl way add hadn't con-
sidered specific use of the side for a jail.
Commissioner Crisp explained that the Grand Jury
report recently submitted endorsed the idea of a
central jail for San~;a Clara County, located in San
jose.
Commissioner Crisp moved that the report be adopted
as read.
Votin~ as follows: For: Anderson, Bennett, Crisp,
Hlggins, Pssetts. Against: None. Not Voting: Webster.
Commissioner Webster stated that he was not opposed to
the report but wished to refrain from voting.
B. SDBDIViSiONS
1. SD #50 - Saratoga Glen Woods
The Secretary read bhe conditions of approval for
SD #~0 this subdivision? as recommended by the County Sub-
Saratoga
Glen Woods divisZon Committee at its meetknE of ljovember 5, 1957.
Mr. Kaemmerling, engineer for the developer, discussed
proposed sewer installations with the Commissioners.
Commissioner Crisp moved that the tentative map be
approved subject to the conditions set at the Sub-
division Committee meeting of November 5- Carried
unanimously.
2. SD #51 - Ploeser (Longson)
After studyin~i the map of the proposed subdivision

Ploeser Commissioner Higgins moved that the matter be held
(Longson)
over until the nsxt meeting. Carried unanimously.
3. SD #52 - Armstrong (Longson)
After inspection of the tentative map Commissioner

Armstron_~ Crisp moved that this matter be held over until the

Commissioner Pasetta moved that the meeting be adjourned.
