Crisp, that minutes of the meetin~ of September 11, 1961, be sp-
proved as distributed ~o the Commission; motion carried

III, SUBDIVISIONS AND BUILDING SITES
A. SD- 308 - C. L~ Lonesona Canyon View Drive end Reid Lane - Subdivi-
sion - 27 Lots
Commissioner Anderson advised that the applicant, C. L. Lon~son,
had filed a letter requesting an extension of ~ime in connection
~ith this application, to give him adequate time to prepare and
submit a revised tentative map. On the basis of this information,
Chairman Webster ordered 5D~308 continued until the meeting on
October 9, 1961.
B, SDR-310 - Mont~omeryW. Hawks~ Piea-~nt Road - Buildin~ Site Approval -
Mro Ha~ks was present and expressed satisfac=ion with the proposed
conditions of approval. There was a motion by Co-=nissioner Anderson,
seconded by Commissioner Crisp, that the tentative map for SDR-310,
Montgomery W. ~awks, be approved subject to the 11 conditions con-
telned in the Buildin~ Site Co~lttee Report dated September 22, 1961;
motion carried

lit, Cilbert was present to represent Mr. Bonacina and expressed satis-
faction with the proposed conditions of approval. There' was a motion
by Connnissioner Anderson, seconded by Commissioner Crisp, that the
tentative map for SDR-311, Joseph Bonacina, be approved subject to
the seven (7) conditions enumerated in the report of the Build~nS
Site Com~ittee, dated September 22, 1961; motion carried unanimously.
D. SD- 312 - K. C., Ine. e Fruitvale Av. enue - Subdivision - 7 Lots
Co~nissioner Anderson advised that the Subdivision Connnittee had mot
with the engineer and one of the o~ners of this property', and bad
suggested that the area be re-desi~ned so that the corridors ~ould be
replaced by a cul-de-ssc. The developer advised the Subdivision
Counittee that he x~ould consider this suggestion ,,a give them his
decision before the next meeting. Ou the basis of this information,
Chairman Nebster ordered SD-312s K, C., Inc., continued until the
meeting on October 9, 1961.

Approval - I Lot
Nr. George Ryereon was present to represent Signal Oil Company and,
after a brief explanation, expressed satisfaction with the proposed
conditions of approval. There was a motion by Conanissioner Anderson,
seconded by Commissioner Crisp, that the tentative map for SDR-313,
Signel Oil Company, be approved subject to the 11 conditions con-
~ained in the report of the Building Site Committee, dated September
2_5, 1961; motion carried unanimously.

Cor~,tttees rec~aauended that this matter (A-50) be continued to the
meeting on October 9, 1961, and that the Secretary contact
Johnson of Cen-Cal in the meantime, since it was his understanding
that they wished to withdra~, There was no one present to represent
the' applicant. Cheirumn ~ebster, on the basis of the suggestion from
Cord-is,loner Bennett, ordered A-60 continued to the next regular
meeting, and requested the= the Secretary cc.~..~nieate with the ap-
plicant and advise that if they wish to continue with the application,
more detailed plans should be submitted.

Mr, Clu~rles Henderson was present to represent the applicant, After
readinS a report submitted by the Special Architectural
Co-,,{esioner Bennett snggested that this matter be continued until
the next regular meetings since Commissioner Hidgins had asked that
Plro Henderson be advised that the Special Architectural Connnittee

~o Henderson explained to the Cv~;desion that time was an important
factor and requested that thismeetin~ be held as soon as possible,
Chairman~ebster ordered A=63 continued to the meetin~ on October 9,
1961~ and requested that the Secretary, in cooperation with
sioner Bennett, endeavor to schedule an early meetin~ to be artended
by the applicant, the a~plicantws desi~ner, and the members of a
Special Architectural Co~m~:ttee (to be selected by C~;~Jssioner
Bennett) so that detailed surestions could be made as to the chan~es
desired in the plans.

C~....~lssioner Bennett advised that it ~as the reco,~-..endation of the
Architectural Design Review Co~utttee that Signal Oil Company be
asked to submit revi~ed plans of a more rustic design in keepin~
with standards established in connection with similar applications,
Chairm~- ~ebster explained that Saratoga did not desire standard
service station design, since it was not compatible with what they
ware tryin~ =o accomplish, liT. Ryersou, representinS Signal Oil
Ccmpanys stated ~hat they had special designs that could be used
u-ear such circ~nstances, and dieplayed pictures of some of them.
It was the consensus of the Commission that the designs shown in
some of the pictures were more compatible with the design objectives
of Sara~op~, Chairm~n Webster ordered A-64 continued until =he
moecing on October 9~ 1961, to give the applicant adequate rime CO
submit revised plans of a more rustic design, and requested that the
Secretary arrange a meetinS between the applicant ~-a the Archi-
tectural Design Review Cofnmtttee at the end of the week,

A, Chair-~- ~ebster welcomed Councilman Drake to the meeting.
B. The Secretary called attention to the DesignReviewCo~m!ttee set up
under the new ZoninS Ordinance and requested that the Staff be directed
to make a study of the duties of this Committee. Chairman ~ebster
directed that the Staff make a study of this ei~uation and make a recom-
mendation as CO provisions of the Ordinance per~aininS Co the subject
