Commissioner Anderson advised that conditions of approval haS not been
prepared since the revised mp had not been filed, He sugges~aS, ~here-

On the basis of this recomnendat'ion, Chairman ~lebster directed SDR-384s
Fenton g. Silveys continued until the meetin~ on Dece~l>er 10, 1962.
Co S..DR.-385 - Coccardi Corporation, Pierce RosS - Buildin~ Site Approval - 2 Lots
Commissioner Anderson advised thqt the Buildin~ Site Co~nittee had met
~vith representatives of the Coccardi Corporation and they had decided
to submit a revised map, dividing this property into four lots instead
of t~o. It was his recommendation that this matter be continued until
the next regular meeting to allow the applican~ adequate time to revise
the tentative map.
On the basis of this reccn~nendation, Chairman lqebster directed SDR-385
continued until the meeting on December 10, 1962,

Ce~aulssloner Anderson advised that this was a difficult lot to develop'
ands for this reasons had been purchased subject to Build~nE SIte Approval,
The applicants after meeting with the Buildin~ Site Co-~t~tee, had decided
to give this purchase further thoughts so it was the recommendation of the
Co~-..4ttee that this matter be continued until the next regular meetin8.

A, The Secretary gave a brief report with regard to his trip to Pomena to
attend the K~YOReS IqORKSHOP, and advised the Cuu~uisston that he would sub-
mita written report at a later date. In anwder to a question from the
Chairroans he stated that while he did not feel that the Pomeea Mall was
feasible for SararoSa, he felt that perhaps a similar parking assessment
district ~,a_ a modified nmll might be practical.
Be The Secretary advised that Mrs. Georgia Ryder was writing her thesis on
development of a library in Saratoga and would like to discuss this met-
ter with the Con~aisston at some futere date. He further advised that
Mayor Brazil had requested that the Planning Department cooperate in this
endeavor since the information contained in the thesis would be available
to the City. The Secretary suggested that the General Plan Cuu~aittee be
appointed to study the project prior to its presentation to the entire
Coumaission.
On the basis of this suggestions Chairman lqebster requested that the
General Plan Cogmtttee meet with lira. Ryder to discuss this matter at
the earliest conveniance of both parties,

Ce~lssioner Glenn advised that the Design Review C~lttee had discussed
this matter with Plro Van Renssalaer and Counctlv~_n Hartm-~ as requested
and they had felt that since these were speciment olive trees they
should be accepted as the required street treeso They had su~ested,
ever, that rather than add olive trees to the approved tree list (since
they might not be suitable in all circumstances} that each such case be
considered on its own merit, It x;as the recommendation of the Design
Review Cu,~ittee that the specimen alive trees be accepted in this instance,
but that olive trees not be added to the approved tree list at this
There was a metion by Conmissioner Glerm, seconded by Con=his,loner
that the request that specimen olive trees be allowed as the required
street trees in the Brown & Kauffmann Subdivision (Prides Crossir~) be
approved; marion carried urtnnlmously,
Co~lssionsr Johnson moved, seconded by Co~m!ssioner Crisps that the
C.~alssion adopt the reconunendation oE the Design Review Co~ittee that
olive trees not be added to the approved tree list at this time; motion
carried uns~ir~USly,
B, SD-333 - Alpha Laad C~n~any, SaratoSa-Sunn~vale Road - Kequest that Com-
m.i..ssion clarify intent of Condition #7 of Conditions of Approval
The Secretary stated that PIt, Gri£fin of Alpha Land Company had requested
that the Co~aission clarify the intent of Condition ~7 since there seemed
to be some misunderatar~iing at Council level with regard to this, He
read a draft of a memo to the City Council clarifyim~ this matter,
PaT, Griffin wee present to discuss his request with the Cun...~ission,
The Commission ~reed that the intent o~ Condition ~7 was not that the
entire 15 acres should be drained to Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, but only
that portion that naturally drained to Seratoga-Suenyvale Road,
There was a marion by Comais,loner Johnson, seconded by C~.-i~{ssioner
Glenn, that the Chairman be authorized to sign the letter drafted by the
Secretary clarifying the intent o~ Condition ~7; marion carried unspim~uSZy,
Chairman 14ebster acknowledged Councilman Drakes, presence end welcomed him to the
meeting,
