The applicant~s designer, Marry Oaklay, reminded the
Commission of the changes already made to the plans
including eliminating the breezeway between the garage
and den and daDteasing ~he height of the home by reducing
~he roof pitch and by flaftening ou~ certain areas of
roof.
Mr. Oaklay presented revised plans showing a reduction of
the ~idth of the home to 8~ ft. and stated that
majorlty of the home ~as 2G ft. ~a11. Mr. Oaklay
referred ~o the revised plans to sho~ tha~ only a narro~
band of ~he total roof line was 28 ft. high. He stated
that the total fIoor area of the home is approximately
5,02~ sq. ft. ~hich includes 20~ sq. ft. of double
counted
The Committee reached a Consensus that the revised plans
adequately addressed their concerns regarding bulk,
height and cumulative

Mr. Griffin, architect,.explained that he had looked at
~ays of reducing the overall height of the home including
se~ting the house down into the hill ~ore (increase
grading) and reducing the roof pitoh. He indicated that
he chose to reduce the pitch of the roof from a
pitch to a G/12 pitch. Rs a result, the height o~ the
home uas reduced from appr'oximately 2G.? ft. to 2~.5
The general consensus of the Committee ~a5 ~hat ~he
proposed decrease in height uas sufficient ~o address
bulk and height concerns.
~r. Griffin addressed the. issue surrounding ~he proposed
height of the oabana and stated the only ~ay he could
meet the 12 ft. height limit ~as if a flat ~op~'roof was
proposed. He explained that'a flat roof uould not be

The Con~i~tee failed to reach a consensus on the issue
concerning ~he heigh~ of the cabana. Chairuo~n Harris
suggested tha~ each Commissioner uisi~ the si~e again
before ~he 10/28/87 Planning Co~nission ~ee~ing.
