MINUTES
December 9, 1975
I. ORGANIZATION
A. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Earley, Campbell, Falltrick, Isaak, Miller, Moss, & Olsen
Absent: None
Guests: Mr. Robert F. Beyer, City Manager and Ms. Pamela Hook, Regional Librarian
II. CONSIDERATION OF PREDEVELOPMENT AND OFF SITE DEVELOPMENT COSTS FOR PROPOSED
CITY OWNED LIBRARY SITE AND CONSIDERATION OF NEW ALTERNATE SITE AT THE CORNER
OF SARATOGA AVENUE AND FRUITVALE AVENUE
The City Manager reviewed for the members of the Commission the information pertaining
to the public hearing which will be held later this evening before the City Council
concerning the final determination of the library site. He indicated that under
consideration was a site on the gore of Saratoga Avenue and Fruitvale, in addition,
to the previously discussed site on Saratoga Avenue, closer to Sacred Heart Church,
as well as, the site on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and Cox Avenue. He felt this was
a reasonable compromise due to the extremely high cost considerations of the site
at Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and Cox Avenue and did provide some additional benefits
over the site near Sacred Heart Church.
The Commission discussed this in some depth, indicating they still generally favor
the original site recommended by them, which was the Sacred Heart site.
After further discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Isaak and seconded by
Commissioner Earley, that the Commission go on record recommending to the City
Council that the Sacred Heart site is the preferred site for the Saratoga Library,
that the "gore" site is acceptable, and that the Cox Avenue-Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road
site is unacceptable, and that no further sites be considered by the City Council.
The vote carried unanimously.
III. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
