QRGA]IZ~TIQN A. ~ Present: Clemens, Franklin, Gilman, Pierce, Saunders, Ward. Absent: Anderson. Staff: Trinidad, Trejo. Others Present: Tom Devich B. Minutes of December 5, 1988, meeting approved as presented. C . PQSTI NG_QF_TH~_A~MDA Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on January 6, 1989. ii. Q~_~U~~ None. III. ~_~US~S~ A. ~D~_SU~GRS~IQNS The Commission was unable to come up with any new suggestions that qualify as Drojects eligible for CDGB funding. B. ~ITX_PQL~CX_D~LQR~NT_IT~ Commissioner Franklin suggested a centrally located ticket booth where residents could purchase same-day tickets for local events. Commissioner Gilman was contacted by Ann Walton Smith who would like to have an "Appreciate Saratoga Month" which would maps showing points of interest and walking tours into neighborhoods, would like to see money included for community activities to be determined later. Commissioners feel that most Saratogans would not want groups walking through their neighborhoods. Commissioner Gilman suggested ~ Dark appreciation pro§_am, getting the schools and PTA involved in educating children to have pride in, and appreciate, their parks. Have poster contests, Dark tours, activities promoting parks. Commissioner Clemens suggested having a master plan prepared for the Heritage Orchard/Central Park. Commissiner Pierce would like to get funding for Kevin Moran Park design plan. The Commission also feels it is time for a master plan for the Dark in the Beauchamps development. Commissioner Pierce also suggested having feasibility study on a plan for a cross-city combination trail as a connection to recreation areas, including a study of a Sobey Road to Pierce Road connection a link from Montalvo to Hakone to Sanborn and along the railroad right-of-way. c. ~X~_=_~Q~_~~ Tom Devich, President of California Youth Soccer Association, spoke to the Commission about CYSA's desire to have a "home field". He suggested several ways this could be done provide AYSO would agree. Dan will check on the agreement between the City and AYSO pertaining to Congress Springs Park. Commissioners Ward, Saunders and Pierce will serve as negotiators to a committee representing CYSA and AYSO so use of the fields can be worked out to the satisfaction of all. Commission discussed modification of Dark hours. Consensus of all present was that closing hours should be changed from 10:00 p.m. to 1/2 hour after sunset and that signs to that effect should be posted at each park.
