Commissioner Franklin suggested a centrally located
ticket booth where residents could purchase same-day
tickets for local events. Commissioner Gilman was
contacted by Ann Walton Smith who would like to have an
"Appreciate Saratoga Month" which would maps showing
points of interest and walking tours into neighborhoods,
would like to see money included for community
activities to be determined later. Commissioners feel
that most Saratogans would not want groups walking
through their neighborhoods. Commissioner Gilman
suggested ~ Dark appreciation pro§_am, getting the
schools and PTA involved in educating children to have
pride in, and appreciate, their parks. Have poster
contests, Dark tours, activities promoting parks.
Commissioner Clemens suggested having a master plan
prepared for the Heritage Orchard/Central Park.
Commissiner Pierce would like to get funding for Kevin
Moran Park design plan. The Commission also feels it is
time for a master plan for the Dark in the Beauchamps
development. Commissioner Pierce also suggested having
feasibility study on a plan for a cross-city combination
trail as a connection to recreation areas, including a
study of a Sobey Road to Pierce Road connection a link
from Montalvo to Hakone to Sanborn and along the
railroad right-of-way.

Tom Devich, President of California Youth Soccer
Association, spoke to the Commission about CYSA's desire
to have a "home field". He suggested several ways this
could be done provide AYSO would agree. Dan will check
on the agreement between the City and AYSO pertaining to
Congress Springs Park. Commissioners Ward, Saunders and
Pierce will serve as negotiators to a committee
representing CYSA and AYSO so use of the fields can be
worked out to the satisfaction of all.
Commission discussed modification of Dark hours.
Consensus of all present was that closing hours should
be changed from 10:00 p.m. to 1/2 hour after sunset and
that signs to that effect should be posted at each park.
Dan will meet with the City Attorney to have City Codes
amended.
