I. ORGANIZATION
A. ROLL CALL
Present: Councilmen Bridges, Diridon, Dwyer, Kraus and Smith
Absent: None
II. PUBLIC HEARING
A. Dr. Isaac N. Abrams, Lot 17, Summerplace Subdivision, Tract 5233
Mayor Smith introduced the subject by indicating te those persons present
that the City Council, along with the staff, had taken a field trip to
the site in question on Saturday, December 9, to review the various issues
which had been raised at the public! hearing on December ~6, 1972. The
Mayor then opened the public hearing and asked if anyone present wanted
to speak on the subject at hand.
Dr. Abrams commented that he had no' additional information to pres~n,t
at this time.
Mr. Dick Tripp, who resides behind ~ot 17, reiterated his opposition to
a two-story house on this property ',and commented that he was very pleased
that the City Council had inspected this site.
Mr. John Britton, who resides behind Lot 22, reiterated his opposition to
a two-story house, basically it being the same argument as presented at
the December 6 meeting
Mr. Charles Huff, a resident of Prides Crossing, rmadel the statement:
"Can the design review question be 'enforced, and is our ordinance relevant
here?"-
The Mayor then asked if there was anyone~l~lse"p're~nt 'whJ~w~d'tb'~eak on
this matter,-' and there being no one, the public hearing was cl~d~
Mayor Smith then spoke to the questions~raised by Mr. Huff. He commented
that with the ordinance as it currently stands, it does allow for design
review, but he did not think it was applicable in this situation.
After further discussion, it was moved by Councilman' Dwyer and seconded by
l:Councilman Diridon to grant the appeal and reverse the action of the Planning
Commission'. The motion carried, 4'tO 0,Mr. Bridges abstaining due to hi~
being absent at the previous ~egulari meeting. The City Manager was directed
to work with the City Attorney and the Planning Director to clarify some of
the questions raised during the public hearing regarding the Zoning Ordinance
and make the necessary recommendations for future council consideration.
III. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at8:45 P.M.
