PLACE: Crisp Conference Room, City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale.Ave., Saratoga TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting I. ORGANIZATION The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cole Bridges. The City Clerk was asked to call the role, and indicated that Councilman Matteoni was absent for the roll call. II. CONSIDERATION OF THREE PROPERTY TAX REFORM PROPOSALS (SB-12, SB-154, AB-999) UNDER CONSIDERATION BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE The City Manager indicated that the main bill under consideration at this point was SB-12, and asked Jim Hendrickson, Assistant to the City Manager, to s~mmarize a report on this proposed piece of legislation. Prior to the discussion on the bill',. Councilman Matteoni arrived. The City Council after hearing the report, discussed the matter in some depth, and moved to oppose the bill. It was moved by Councilman Kraus and secondedby Councilman Brigham to oppose the bill in its present form, and to send a letter to Senator Smith, with copies to Assemblyman Hayden, members of the Senate Finance Conm~ittee and the League of California Cities, indicatingI the City's position on this matter. Particularly, staff was askedfro! includeza copy of the chart which indicated the loss to the City of revenues if the bill in its present form had been in effect since 1972. It was further added that the p~obl~m~ of state sub- ventions for state mandated programs be emphasized, in addition to the fact that the bill as presently worded does not provide specific relief for Senior Citizens. The motion carried unanimously. III. LETTER FROM SUPERVISOR ROD DIRIDON CONCERNING THE_~PCOMING ABAG/MTC CORRIDOR STUDY POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING'~~-' ~. ~ Mayor Bridges brought up a letter he had received from Supervisor Rod Diridon concerning the upcoming ABAG/MTC Corridor Study Policy Committee Meeting on Thursday. He reviewed the contents of Supervisor Diridon's letter pertaining to the two alternatives to be considered by the Policy Committee. He suggested that the Council adopt a resolution supporting the concepts outlined in Supervisor Diridon's letter and submit them to the Policy Board. It was moved by Mayor Bridges and seconded by Councilman Brigham that Resolution No. 817 be approved. The motion carried unanimously.
