II. BIDS AND CONTRACTS
A.Modification to Agreement with Hatoyama and Associates for
Hakone Garden Restoration
The City Manager reviewed the report from the Director of
Community Services concerning this matter as continued by the
City Council from its meeting on April 19.
There was some concern by the Council that we should pay the
additional cost as outlined by Mr. Hatoyama raising the cost
to a~proximately $t0%200.
After further discussion, the City Manager suggested that he
be allowed to negotiate an agreement with Mr. Hatoyama that
would fall within the context of the amount budgeted of
approximately $8,000. If this meant having to eliminate the
viewing platforms and bridges as part of this then we would try
to do this. If we ran .into a problem beyond this point I would
bring this matter back to the City Council for further action.
It was moved by Councilwoman Callo~ seconded by Councilman
Matteoni that the City Manager be authorized to negotiate'an
agreement withIMrr-Hatoyama forup to $8,000 worth of work.
The motion carried unanimously, 4 to 0~
B. Urgency Ordinance 65 - An Ordinance of the City Council of the
City of Saratoga Authorizing an Amendment to the Contract
Between the City Council and the Board of Administration of
the California Public Employees' Retirement System
The City Manager reviewed why this was~onsidered tQ~e ~
an Emergercy Ordinance. The primary reason was that it was to
allow replacement benefits previously approved by the City
Council to go into effect on May 1o The urgency nature was
to have an effective date sooner then the normal 30-day waiting
period for ordinances ~nacted by the City Council.
Councilman Kalb asked some questions pertaining to various
sections of the agreement with PERS. Mr. Hendrickson,
Assistant City Manager, explained these sections and impacts
of the various provisions as requested by Councilman Kalb.
After further discussion, the City Manager was asked to
read the Ordinance and after the reading, Councilman Kalb,
seconded by Councilman Matteoni moved to approve this
amendment to PERS. The motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, it Was moved by Councilman
Matteoni, seconded by Councilman Kalb to adjourn the Adjourned
