SARATOGA CITY COUNCIL

I. ROLL CALL
Present: Councilmen Katb, Callon, Corr, Matteoni, Kraus
Absent: None
II. BIDS ~AND CONTRACTS
A. REPORT OF BID OPENING ON SOLAR SPACE HEATING PROJECT FOR
SARATOGA CO~,iMUNITY LIBRARY (Cont'd. 12/21/78)
The Assistant City Manager indicated that this report was not
ready to be presented to the City Council at this time. There
are still some items that have not been resolved among all of
the parties . the Federal GOvernment, the principal con-
tractor, and the engineers. He did indicate that the bid by'
Buffalow's, Inc. is.within the budgeted amohnt. The total
solar project is budgeted at $125,375; and $70,992 has been
included for the solar collector and installation costs.
Buffalow's bid amounts to $67,667. Once the technical matters
are resolved, we will be in a position to recommend award of
the bid.
M/S: Kalb/Callon to continue the matter until these technical
matters are resolved.
IIt. OTHER BUSINESS
A. SANTA CLARA VALLEY CORRIDOR EVALUATION ~TUDY
The Assistant City Manager presented a draft letter to the
Association of Bay Area Governments re~flecting the City
Council action on February 7, 1979~regarding thelSanta Clara
Valley Corridor.Evaluation Study.' After discussing the letter,
the City Council voted to make the following modifications:
· M/S: Kalb/Matteoni that the.Council emphasize its
desire to encourage job formation in~the south and
reduce job formation in the north. In addition,
recommend modification of the general conclusion
of the study to increase housing density in the
North County as follows:
"If increased densification would worsen a
job/housing imbalance in localized areas,
the transportation impact of such actions
should be considered carefully before
making specific commitments."

· M/S: Callon/Kalb to re=structure the sentence
'arrangement under the first bullet so that it
states at the' outset that the Council favors
protection of the right-of-way in the West Valley
Transportation Corridor, but would like it re-
located from the "Recommendations for Highways"
to the 'iRecommendations for Transit".
"The Council favors uses in the corridor
such as light rail, but does not want the
corridor developed for. automobile traffic
in a freeway or expressway mode. ".

IV. ADJOUP~q~ENT
There being no further business, M/S: C0rr/Kraus to adjourn
the meeting. Carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned
