II. COMMUNICATIONS
A. ORAL - Presentation by Saratoga Fire Presented report.
Chief Eruie Kraule and- Santa Clara
County Sheriff's Deparhnent Captain John Foote, 20910 Canyon View Drive, expressed
Don Tamm regarding effortslon 1/12 concern that current regulations would permit
fire involving hazardous substances. another hazardous situation to develop.
City Attorney stated that the fire code was
being updated. FUrther, violations of the cur-
rent fire code may have taken place but could
not be proved because of loss of evidence in the
course of the fire and disposal of hazardous
materials.
thorn Mayes, 21120 Sullivan Way, asked that the
person responsible for the fire be required to
pay expenses resulting frc~n the fire. City
Attorney explained that it was not legally
~ssible to do so in this case.
~Drge Rice, 19038 Brookhaven! Drive, presented a
neno from the City of San Jose concerning the
0ossibili~y of traffic lights at 'the comer of
~.yle and Prospect and requested that the City
participate in a study on the subject. Mayor
~allon pointed out that the subject would be
~iscussed later on the agenda.
21arence Neale~ 20345'Williams, requested that
~he City ensure that an illegal fence on pro-
'perty adjoining his own be re,Dyed. He objected
to the fact that the property owner had been
pehnitted to have utilities connected before the
fence had been remDved. City ManAger explained
that the property owner had been given a deadline
of ?!Magi 15 to remove the fence, and that the
City would take stronger action to enforce the
Cede if the deadline were not met.
