HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-27-1987 City Council Minutes MINLrlZS SARATOGA CITY COUNCIL TIME: Tuesday, October 27, 1987 PLACE: Arts and Crafts Room, Community Canter, 19655 Allendale Avenue TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting/Joint Meeting with Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. Councilmembers Anderson, Clevenger, and Hlava were present. Those present as representatives of the Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council were Andrew Beverett, Betty and Joe Eskeldson, Dottie Beck, Dick Drake, Peggy Corr, and Olga MacFarlane. Peggy Corr, President of the SASCC, opened the meeting with introductory r~m~rks. Dick Drake reviewed the provisions of the new operating agreement for the Senior Conter and the chronology of the SASCC and Senior Center e~sion. He discussed the SASCC's operations, current and planned, and the resources needed to support them. He concluded with a discussion of financing and operational costs of the Adult Day Care Center program which is due to begin January 1, 1988. Olga MacFarlane then reviewed current service programs and the numerous groups oDerating under the SASCC umbrella. She also described the case management program operated each Thursday by Jackie Graham with funding through the Council on Aging. It was suggested that the December Saratoga Newsletter mention the dedication - and startup of the .Adult Day Care Canter on January 1, 1988. Betty Eskeldsen then described the various social programs available at the Senior Canter. Dottie Beck discussed work on setting up the Adult Day Care Center program, including the submittal of an application to the State and the need for clearance from the Fire Marshal. She stated that the day care was planned as a social rather than a medical program end would oDerate Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. She anticipated that the center would start with ten participants and move to 30. Andy Beverett then reviewed fund raising efforts. He noted that the goal was to raise $65,000, and they had raised 56% of that sum.
