HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-24-1988 City Council Minutes MINUTE8 SARATOOA CITY COUNCIL TIME: Tuesday, May '24,-1988 PLACE: Community Center Arts and Crafts Room, 19655 Allendale TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. Present: Councilmembers Anderson, Clevenger, Hlava, moyles and Mayor Peterson; Finance Committee Members Dave DeCarion, Christie Jameson, Peter Smith; Staff Members City Manager PeacOck, Finance Director Shriver 1. Proposed Language for Advisory Measure for Freeway Interchanges MOYLES/HLAVA MOVED TO ADOPT LANGUAGE AS PROPOSED. Passed 3-2 (Clevenger, Anderson voting no). Councilmember Clevenger stated she was opposed to the language because of the site specific wording on the second part of the measure. Council expressed its desire that the Registrar provide adequate instruction on how to vote the measure. City Clerk to verify exact wording with the Registrar prior to preparation of the consolidation resolution being presented for adoption. 2. Median Break at Kosioh and Saratoga Avenue Council heard from several residents in the area concerning the elimination of the left turn/tracking lane caused by the modification to the median to provide for a protected U-Turn movement. Council requested staff to have developer stop work on the median, review options and set the matter for hearing at the June 15 Council meeting and make sure that all residents of the Saratoga Woods area be notified. 3. Joint Meeting with Finance Advisory Committee for Discussion of 1988-89 Budget Adjustments The following points were made regarding the budget and capital improvements plan: a. In replacing signal equipment on Saratoga/Sunnyvale Road provision should be made for time-based coordination equipment. b. Finance Commitee to work with architect and staff on design development of the Civic Center. c. Budget acceptable as presented. Staff to prepare resolutions for adoption at conclusion of the June 15 budget adjustments hearing. 4. Meeting with Hakone Foundation Board - Council agreed to reschedule meeting from July 12 to September 13 at 7:30 p.m. 5. Planning Commission Interviews - Directed staff to schedule starting at 7:30 on May 31. Interviews to be set up in groups of two and three, spaced about 20 minutes apart. 6. Closed session - Council requested a closed session at 9:30 p.m. on May 31 to discuss a personnel matter. 7. The meeting was adjourned to 7:30 p.m. on May 31. Respectfully submitted, Harry R.
