HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-26-1994 City Council Minutes MINUTES SARATOGA CITY COUNCIL TIME: Tuesday, July 26, 1994 - 4:00 p.m. PLACE: City Hall Administration Meeting Room, 13777 Fruitvale Ave. TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting 1. Roll Call The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. In the temporary absence of the City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerk called the roll. Councilmembers Jacobs, Tucker, Wolfe and Mayor Burger were present. Councilmember Moran arrived at 4:06. 2. Report of City Clerk on Posting of Agenda The Deputy City Clerk reported that pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on July 22. The notice of adjournment from the July 20 Council meeting was properly posted on July 21. 3. Interviews with Planning Comm~sslon Applicants Mayor Burger brought up the application of James Tennison, which had been received almost two weeks late. There was consensus not to accept the application. Interviews were conducted according to the following schedule: Beth Wyman 4:00 Carol Greenleaf 4:15 Ann Waltonsmith 4:30 Larry Fine 4:45 Morris Jones 5:00 Mary Louise Shellooe 5:15 Alfred Abshire 5:30 Adam Fineberg 5:45 Margaret Patrick 6:00 · Richard Siegfried 6:15 Marilyn Riding 6:30 Walter Marchetti 6:45 4. Appointment of New Planning Commissioners The Council discussed the applicants. TUCKER/MORAN MOVED TO APPOINT MARGARET PATRICK TO THE JACOBS SEAT EXPIRING OCTOBER 1996; TO APPOINT ALFRED ABSHIRE TO THE MORAN SEAT EXPIRING JANUARY 1996; TO APPOINT RICHARD SIEGFRIED TO THE WOLFE SEAT EXPIRING OCTOBER 1996. Passed 5-0. The meeting was recessed at 7:25 p.m. At 7:30 the meeting reconvened. 5. Joint Meeting with Bicycle Advisory Committee Committee Members present were Jim Stallman and Ken Johnson; staff members present were Public Works Director Perlin and Assistant Engineer Dorsey. a. Approval of Proposed Bicycle Network Master Plan - (Report from PUblic Works Director to be mailed to Council.) Commissioner Johnson reviewed the proposed bicycle network master plan. Concerns expressed by Councilmembers: 1. Prohibiting parking in front of residences. 2. Identify future areas where bike paths can be developed to add to the lane or route on the roadway - Tucker. 3. on Saratoga Avenue between Cox and Lawrence Expressway, parking should be prohibited or bike lane should not be City Council Minutes 2 July 26, 1994 provided - Jacobs. 4. Include Route 85 West Valley Bike Route. Re: #1 - contact property owners for opinions. #2 - pursue, Council agrees. #3 - contact property owners for opinions. #4 - awaiting final determination from Traffic Authority. Put Bicycle Advisory Committee on City commissions list. 6. Award of contract to reroof Warner Hutton House JACOBS/MORAN MOVED TO AWARD THE CONTRACT TO LOS GATOS ROOFING IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,355. Passed 5-0. 7. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. Respectfully submitted, City Clerk
