SARATOGA CITY COUNCIL ~
TIME: Saturday, June 29, 1996 ll:00a.m.
PLACE: Sunland Park Neighborhood Assn. (Clemson Avenue between Quito
Road and Swarthmore/Vanderbilt Avenues)
TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting
Mayor Jacobs called the meeting to order at 11:05 AM.
1. Roll Call
Councilmembers Present: Mayor Jacobs, Vice Mayor Moran, Councilmembers
Burger, Tucker and Wolfe.
Staff Present: City Manager Peacock, Public Works Director Perlin
2. Report of City Clerk on Posting of Agenda
City Manager Peacock reports that pursuant to Government Code 54954.2,
the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on June 21. The
notice of adjournment from the June 19 Council meeting was properly
posted on June 20.
3. Remarks from Mayor Paul Jacobs
Mayor Jacobs thanked the Sunland Park residents for the community
effort put into the improvement project for Quito Road. He notes that
this was a case of the neighborhood having a goal it wanted to
accomplish and looked to the City to cooperate with its efforts instead
of expecting the City to do it all. Asia result the project has
special meaning to the neighbors and to the City and the neighbors are
to be congratulated for the way it went about realizing its goal.
4. Remarks from Sunland Park Neighborhood Association President
Richard Guerney
President Guerney thanks his neighbors for all the work and cooperation
received from the some 200 homeowners involved, thanked the City
Council for agreeing to work with the neighborhood to realize its
desire to have Quito Road improved and thanked Public Works Director
Perlin and his staff for the work in putting everything together. He
notes that this spirit of cooperation has now borne additional fruit as
the Sunland Park neighborhood has now also gathered together to create
a Neighborhood Watch Program for the Neighborhood. The first of a
series of Neighborhood Watch signs which will be going up in the
neighborhood was displayed.
5. Report from Public Works Director concerning Fulfillment of
conditions for Deferred Improvement Agreements for Quito Road
Traffic Improvements
Public Works Director Perlin reports to the City Council that the Quito
Road Traffic Improvements have been completed in accordance with the
specifications for the project and that the successful completion of
the project fulfills the requirements of the Deferred Improvements
agreements enter into with the Sunland Park property owners in 1981 as
a condition of annexation of the City and that he recommends the City
Council now act to cancel said agreements.
6. Resolution cancelling Deferred Improvement Agreements
It is moved by Councilmember Tucker, seconded by Vice Mayor Moran and
passed 5-0, to adopt Resolution No. 96-38 cancelling the Deferred
Improvement Agreements for the Sunland Park Tracts: Lots 1 through 73,
Tract 976, Unit 1 and Lots 74 through 200, Tract 977, Unit 2.
7. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM.
