AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA DESIGNATING
THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE WILLIAM KING HOUSE
(APN 517-08-046) AS A HERITAGE RESOURCE
The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: -!After careful review and consideration of the report
of the Heritage Preservation Commission, the application and suppor-
ting materials the City Council has determined that the findings per
Exhibit "B" can be made and hereby designates the property known
as The William King House as a Heritage Resource of the iCity of
Saratoga.
SECTION 2: This designation shall become operative and take effect
thirty (30) days from its date of passage.
This ordinance was regularly introduced and after the waiting time
required b~; law thereafter passed and adopted this 17th day of
AprLl ,1985, by the following vote:
AYES: CounciLmembers Callon, Clevenger, Hlava, Moyles and Mayor Fanelli

EXHIBIT "B"
REPORT OF FINDINGS
1. The William King Residence exemplifies and reflects special
elements of the architectural history of Saratoga in that
it is one of the oldest existant residences in Saratoga re-
presenting the pioneer atmosphere and simple design characteris-
tic of the 1870's.
2. The residence is identified with William King one of the founde~
and owners of the Paper Mill who was an important and prominent
member of the community.
3. The residence embodies the distinctive characteristics of the
Two-Story Pioneer style and conforms with the simple design
parameters of that era.
