AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING
THE SARATOGA CITY CODE BY ADDING ARTICLE VII
TO CHAPTER 9 RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND.
TRAFFIC
The City Council of the Cit'y of Saratoga does hereby
ordain as.follows:
Section 1:*' There is h~re~y added to Chapter 9
the Saratoga City Code, which code was
adopted by Ordinance No. 38 of this city, the
following Article VII:
ARTICLE 'VII:. Par~ing Regulations Applicable to
All H~.~hways
No person ~ho owns or has possession, custody
control of any vehiclesshall park or leave stand~
ing, or cause to beleft parked or left standing,
such vehicle upon any public street or highway
in the C~ty of Saratoga for a period of seventy-two
(72) or more consecutive hours.

Section 9'7.3:~oval of VehiCles..
In the event that an~ vehicle is parked or left
standing on any public street or highway in the
City of Saratoga for a period ofseventy-two (72)
or more consecutive hours, any member of the
California Highway Patrol, the Chief of Police,
or other regularly employed and salaried deputy of
the Sheriff s Officeof the County of Santa Clara
performingpolice services for the City of Saratoga,
may remove s~ch vehicle from the highway in the
manner and.subject to the requirements of the
Vehicle Code.

Section 9=7~7'TNotice'
In the event that any officer removes a vehicle
from a highway pursuant to Secton 9-73, such
officer shall give the notices provided for in
the Vehicle Code, and the keeper of the garage
in which such vehicle is stored may have a lien
thereon dependent upon possession for this com-
pensation for towage.and for caring for and keeping
safe such vehicle subject to the requirements and
conditions of the Vehicle Code.
Section 9-75: ParkinG for Certain Purposes
prohibzted.
No person who owns or has possession, custody
or control of any vehicle shall park or leave
standing or cause to be left parked or left
standing such vehicle .upon any public street
or highway in the City of Saratoga for the princi-.
pal purpose of:
(a) Displaying such vehicle for sale; and/or ~
(b) Servicing, repairing, assembling, disassem-
bling, modifying or otherwise working on such
vehicle except repairs necessitated by an emergency.
Section 9-76: Other Laws and Regulations Not
Affected by this ~Lrticle.
The provisions of this Article are in addition
to other parking regulations which are or may be

imposed by the law~ of this rate'and the
ions of this Code and shall not relieve any person
from the duty to Observe other.and more restrictive
provisions of the State Vehicle Code or this Code.
Section 2: If any section, subsection, s.entence, c~ause
or phrase of this ordinance is for any
reason held by.a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such'decisionshall not affect the validity.-.

CounCil of the City of Saratoga hereby declares that
it would have passed this ordinance and each section,
~ubsection~ sentence, clause and phrase of this ordinance,
irrespective of the fact that anX one or more sections,
subsectiOns, sentences, clauses or phrases be held
invalido~unconstitutional.
The abbve. and foregoing 6rdinance was regularly introduced
and after the waiting. time requiredb_y law was thereafter passed
and adopted at'a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Saratoga held on the ~Orff day of /~ ., 1964.
