ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING THE SARATOGA
'CITY CODE, BY AMENDING SECTION 680-9' OF_ THE 1968?.EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE THEREIN ADOPTED BY
R__F. FERENCE, RELATING TO WIRE CLEARANCE OVER SWIP~4ING 'POOL~
WHEREAS, the City Council has made an inveStigat~0n
- and finds that~the-minimtnn~eqUiremefits Of the Public U~ilities'
Commission in relation to wire clearance over and around
swimming pools in this city is a sufficient minimum-standard
to be adopted, and the more reS.trictive standard of Section
680-9 of the 1968 Edition of the National ElectriCal COde
more restriCtive'than is reaSOnably' necessary because of local
conditions in ~his city,
NOW, THEREFORE,.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~ARATOGA
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN' AS FOLLOWS:
S~tion 1: SectionJ-15.24 is hereby added to
· Article III of Chapter.3 of the
Saratoga City Code, under the caption "Same--Amendments,-
Additions and Deletions', relating to the 1968 Edition of
.,, the National Electriqal.Codetherein adopted by reference
said Section to read as follows:
Section 3-15.24: Section 680-9 of Said 1968
Edition of said National Electrical Code
~ .~.- hereby amended to read as follows:
Service drop connectors and Other open. Overhead
wiring installed over swiping pools may be installed
in .accord with G095 ofthe Public Utilities Cuusaission
of the State of California, with written apprgval
from the property owner filed with the City;. or in
the alternative, the same shall be inst~lled at
least~:20 feet from the pool edge, or diving 'structure,
observation stands, to~ers or platforms, or otherwise
completely underground2
Section 2: If.any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordinance is for
any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
reraaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the
City of Saratoga hereb declares that it would have passed
this ordinance and eac~ section, subsection, sentence, clause ' '
and phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact-that any one or
more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be
held invalid or unconstitutional.

Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect and be
in full force and effect thirty (30)
days after its passage and adoption.
This ordinance was regularly introduced and after
the waiting time required by law, was thereafter passed
and adopted at a regular meeting of said City Council held
on the 17th day of 'November , 197k~ .by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmen Robbins, Smith, Dwyer, Bridges, Kraus
