AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING CHAPTER 9
OF THE SARATOGA CITY CODE, DECREASING THE SPEED LIMIT ON
A PORTION OF PIERCE ROAD TO 25 M.P.H.
WHEREASIth~aCity Council has determined, upon the basis of an engineering
and traffic survey, that the limit 30 M.P.H. is more than is reasonable or
safe upon thehereinafter described public street within this City, and a
25 M.P.H. prima facie speed limit is found most appropriate to f~cilitate
the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe, on said public street,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby ordain
as follows:
Section i: There is hereby added to Section 9-30.060(a) of the Saratoga
City Code, which section establishes a 25 M.P.H. prime facie speed limit,
the following city street:
Name of Street Description
Pierce Road From its intersection with Congress
Springs Road (State Route 9) on the
south to its intersection with Surrey
Lane on the north;
Section 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance ir~ for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each section, subsection,
sentence, ct'~use and phrase thereoft irrespective of the fact that any one
or more sections, subjections,' sentences, clauses or phrases be h~ld invalid
or unconstitutional.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30 days
after the date'of its passage and adoption.
The above and foregoing Ordinance was regularly introduced and after the wait-
ing time required by law was thereafter passed and adopted this 19th day of
N6vember , 1986 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Anderson, Clevenger, Moyles, Peterson, and Mayor Hlava
