AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA ADDING
SECTIOI~S 9-15.055 AND 9-20.035 TO CHAPTER 9 OF THE
CITY CODE RELATING TO DESIGNATION OF NO PARKING
AREAS BY THE CITY ENGINEER
The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION l: A new Section 9-15.055, entitled "Emergency designation of no
parking areas," is added to Article 9-15 of the City Code, to read as follows:
"S9-15.055 Emergency deSignation of no parking areas
The City Engineer shah have authority to designate any streets, or portions
thereof, as no parking zones and to post signs, markings or other traffic control
devices giving appropriate notice of the prohibition against parking in such zones
whenever the City Engineer determines that such designation is immediately
required by reason of an existing hazard which impairs the safe movement of
vehicular or pedestrian traffic or access for emergency vehicles. The designation
shah automatically expire after sixty days unless sooner terminated by the City
Engineer upon removal of the hazard, or unless extended by a temporary or
permanent regulation adopted by the City Council pursuant to Section 9-15.040 of
this Article."
SECTIOI~ 2: A new Section 9-20.035, entitled "Designation of no parking areas
by City Engineer," is added to Article 9-20 of the City Code, to read as follows:
"-~9-20.035 Designation of no parking areas by City Engineer
The City Engineer shah have authority to designate any portions of a City
owned or operated parking lot~ including aisles, access driveways and other areas
thereof, as no parking zones and to post signs, markings or other traffic control
devices giving appropriate notice of the prohibition against parking in such zones
whenever the City Engineer determines that such designation is required for the
safe movement of vehicular or pedestrian traffic or access for emergency vehicles."
SECTIOlI3: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
Ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or
unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
of this Ordinance. The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby declares that it
would have passed this Ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and
phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that one or more sections, subsections,
sentences, clauses or phrases may be held invalid or unconstitutional.

SECTIOM 4: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its
passage and adoption.
The above and foregoing Ordinance was regularly introduced and after the
waiting time required by law, was thereafter passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council held on the 21stday of January , 1987~ by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Anderson, Clevenger, Moyles, Peterson, and Mayor Hlava
