Call to Order 7:04 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Baker, Ballingall, Burke, Byrne Claus, Farnum, Gupta, Jayakumar, Lee, Luskey, Maltiel, Rezaii, Schwartz, Sclavos, Skelly, Wu. All present except Lee 3. Report on Posting ofthe Agenda: Pursuant to Goverument Code Section 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on January 8,2004. 4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: No additional items may be added pursuant to Goverument Code Section 54954.2. 5. Approval of Minutes of December 9, 2004 (regular meetings ofthe Youth Commission). 6. Oral and Written Commnnication Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. 7. Old Business A. Determine to or not to support Mountain Biking Club I. Discuss Youth Commission's involvement with club-sent to school 2. Discuss any problemslbenefits of being affiliated-not for now B. Update on Skateboard Park Petition l.Collect Signatures-put on next agenda 2. Decide what how to present petition-email to everybody C. Update on Albertson's Grocery Card (Ballingall and Schwartz) l.Inform about details of how the card works-nothing new 2. Discuss how and to whom to advertise and give the cards-give to family, friends, near Albertson's, give to Claus, put on next agenda D. Update on P.A. system l.Inform about grant (Jayakumar and Luskey)-wrote grant, meeting in Feb. save $250 2.Tell info from DJ Jim and DJ Ryan (Ballingall and Famum)-can't reach them, put on next agenda 3.Discuss getting a P.A. and issues surround it-grant E. Discuss Musicfest-May 8 1. Update on what is planned thus far-get cash donations 2. Brainstorm how to pump up the event even more this year-rent P.A., buy T-shirts, tie-dye with old shirts, have the contest, put on next agenda 3. Need to really seek out and advertise to bands so we have a good and popular selection (which leads to higher attendance and better overall event)-look for more bands 5. Delegate who will advertise to which areas to attract bands-SHS 6. Set up groups/committees/ whatever is needed to get event in full progress F. Discuss Mountain Biking Club 1. Report insurance information-we are not responsible 2. Commit to club or no-put on next agenda G. Discuss any new information on master plan that YC should be involved in 8. New Business A. Organize Movie Night- Jan. 23 at WHH I. Pick movie and time-Zoo lander, have donation box, sell candy 2. Plan Advertising- with flyers (free butter popcorn!)-yes B. Discuss dances 1. Plan next dance on Jan. 30 2. Discuss making any changes to improve dances-bring more middle schoolers, announcements, Rolling Hills C. Inform about Mustard Walk, Sunday Feb. 8 1. Sign up for shifts to sell drinks at event form lOam to 3 pm D. Discuss Concerts 1. Choose more concert dates!! 2. Decide to keep or no the next concert- set is June II-April 23 3. Brainstorm how to amp. up concerts E. Begin planning Girls Overnight l.Set up meeting dates and such-March 19, plan 6PM Starbucks F. Inform about new procedures the Youth Commission is going to try I. Any information that is procedure (i.e. minutes or requested information from the meeting) should be finished and sent in by Friday of that same week 9. Committee Reports A. Dances (Farnum and Sclavos)-meeting Jan. 23 @ WHH 3:30 PM B. Special Events (Baker)- Jan.27 Starbucks 7:30PM C. New Projects/Research (Ballingall and Schwartz)- Starbucks Feb. 4 7PM D. Fundraising (Maltiel and Wu)- Starbucks 6:30PM Feb.4 E. Public Relations- Feb. 2 6PM Starbucks 10. Agenda Items for Next Meeting 8:50 p.m. 11.
