HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 10-016RESOLUTION NO. 10 - 016 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE SILICON VALLEY REGIONAL INTEROPERBILITY AUTHORITY (SYRIA) AND TO SIGN THE AMENDMENT TO THE SECOND AMENDED JOINT FUNDING AGREEMENT (JFA) TO ALLOW THE JFA AND ITS ASSETS TO TRANSITION TO THE SILICON VALLEY REGIONAL INTEROPERABILITY AUTHORITY JPA WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has participated as a member of the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Project since 2001 under the structure of a Joint Funding Agreement between all cities in Santa Clara County, the County of Santa Clara and other non- municipal partners for the purpose of enhancing radio and data interoperability, and WHEREAS, the work of the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Project has resulted in established technology projects and planned future projects of a regional nature, these projects require a more formalized governmental structure for their maintenance, operation, and future funding, and WHEREAS, the cities of Santa Clara County and the County of Santa Clara have agreed to form a Joint Powers of Authority to best accomplish the strategic advancement of regional interoperability in Santa Clara County under the newly created Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority, therefore be it NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saratoga, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that the City of Saratoga enters into the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority, Joint Powers of Authority, as a member, and that the City Manager is authorized, and is hereby directed to execute the agreement to join and to transfer assets to the Joint Powers of Authority in the name and on behalf of the City of Saratoga. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 7 day of April, 2010, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmember Chuck Page, Susie Nagpal, Howard Miller, Vice Mayor Jill Hunter, Mayor Kathleen King NAYS: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Remainder of page intentionally left blank.
