RESOLUTION NO. 10 -
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE JOINT POWERS
AGREEMENT TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE SILICON VALLEY REGIONAL
INTEROPERBILITY AUTHORITY (SVRIA) AND TO SIGN THE AMENDMENT TO
THE SECOND AMENDED JOINT FUNDING AGREEMENT (JFA) TO ALLOW THE
JFA AND ITS ASSETS TO TRANSITION TO THE SVRIA
JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has participated as a member of the Silicon
Valley Regional Interoperability Project (SVRIP) since 2001 under the structure of a JFA
between all cities in Santa Clara County, the County of Santa Clara and other non-municipal
partners for the purpose of enhancing radio and data interoperability, and
WHEREAS, the work of the SVRIP has resulted in established technology projects
and planned future projects of a regional nature, and these projects require a more formalized
governmental structure for their maintenance, operation, and future funding, and
WHEREAS, the cities of Santa Clara County and the County of Santa Clara have
agreed to form a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) to best accomplish the strategic advancement of
regional interoperability in Santa Clara County under the newly created SVRIA.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Saratoga, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that the City of Saratoga enters into the
SVRIA JPA as a member, and that the City Manager is authorized, and is hereby directed to
execute the agreement to join and to transfer assets to the JPA in the name and on behalf of the
City of Saratoga.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga
City Council held on the 7th day of April, 2010, by the following vote:
