HomeMy WebLinkAbout101-Staff Report.pdfSARATOGA CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 20, 2009 AGENDA ITEM: DEPARTMENT: Public Works CITY MANAGER: Dave Anderson PREPARED BY: John Cherbone DIRECTOR: John Cherbone Public Works Director SUBJECT: Highway 9 Safety Improvements Phase 2 & 3 – Formation of Council Ad Hoc RECOMMENDED ACTION(S): Appoint Council Members Miller and Nagpal as Council Ad Hoc to participate in a Joint Council Committee with the Town of Los Gatos and the City of Monte Sereno for Phases 2 & 3 of Highway 9 Safety Project. REPORT SUMMARY: The Joint Council Committee consisting of two council members from each of the three cities was used for Phase 1 of the Highway 9 Safety Project to provide regular updates to the City Council and to provide a vehicle for public input. The public process for Phase 2 and 3 of the project is scheduled to begin within the next couple of months or as soon as Caltrans gives approval to move forward with design. The Mayor asked Council Members Miller and Nagpal to participate as the Council Ad Hoc members and they agreed to do so. It therefore recommended that the City Council appoint Council Members Miller and Nagpal as Council Ad Hoc to participate in a Joint Council Committee for the Highway 9 safety project. FISCAL IMPACTS: N/A CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDED ACTION(S): The Council Ad hoc would not be formed representation to the Joint Council Committee would not occur. ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S): None. FOLLOW UP ACTION(S): A schedule of meetings for the Joint Council Committee will be generated based on the project schedule.
