RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve a one year extension to the existing service contract with Loral Landscape, Inc for scheduled maintenance of various City landscaped areas in the amount of $52,320 and authorize the City Manager to execute the same. REPORT SUMMARY: On July 15, 2009, the City Council approved a two year Maintenance Service Contract with Loral Landscape, Inc. with a one year extension provision for landscape maintenance. This service is used primarily for maintenance of City owned and managed landscaped areas throughout the City. The two year contract expires at the end of this fiscal year so approval of the one year extension provision is desired. The award of the original service contract went through an informal bid process as is allowed for service contracts. Loral was determined to be the lowest responsible contractor for specific landscape areas in the City. FISCAL IMPACTS: The amount of the contract is $52,320 as was approved originally in 2009. Funding for the maintenance contract is available in the FY 2011-2012 approved budget. CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDED ACTION: The service contract would not be approved and the City would need to determine a means to maintain these landscaped areas. ALTERNATIVE ACTION: None in addition to the above. FOLLOW UP ACTION: The contracts will be executed. ADVERTISING, NOTICING AND PUBLIC CONTACT: Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, this item was properly posted as a City Council agenda item and was included in the packet made available on the City’s website in advance of the meeting.
