Other issues include problems with mail delivery, garbage pickup, and an inability to have a safe sight distance while backing out of the driveway. The residents originally asked for a parking restriction on the west side of Portos Drive between Allendale and Harleigh Drive during school hours. Staff sent letters to the neighborhood on both sides of Portos informing them of a possible restriction. The residents on the east side of the street contacted the City and were interested in a restriction on the east side of Portos as well. A petition was submitted to the City by the residents supporting a parking restriction and second letter was sent indicating the intention to move forward with a parking restriction on both sides of Portos. The new No Parking resolution would restrict parking from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays excluded. Ten other neighborhood streets in the vicinity of West Valley College have already instituted the same parking restriction. In order to enforce the new restriction, it is necessary that the attached Motor Vehicle Resolution be adopted by City Council. FISCAL IMPACTS: Approximately $250 in labor and materials is required for the City to post the signs. These improvements are paid through the CIP which has a fund devoted to Traffic Safety. CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDED ACTION(S): The MV Resolution would not be adopted and traffic conditions would continue as is. Page 2 of 2 ALTERNATIVE ACTION (S): None in addition to the above. FOLLOW UP ACTION(S): The signs will be installed and the Sheriff’s Department will be notified of the new restriction.
