A. Design Signage for the Orchard adopt a tree kiosk - Decide who will handle
this project and tentative completion date

III. New Business
A. Review application to demolish an existing home at 20269 Thelma Avenue.
The home was built in 1947. The applicant is proposing a new one -story
home.
B. 14625 Fruitvale Avenue, (Saso Herb Garden) A report by a Historic
Architect is being conducted to review the historic significance of the
property.

Place: Planning Conference Room, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue
Type: Regular Meeting
I. Routine Organization
A. Roll Call: PRESENT- Kopernik, King, Peck, Peepari, Ballingall, Grens
ABSENT -Wyman
B. Approval of minutes from 8/14/01, APPROVED 4 -0
C. Posting of the Agenda - Pursuant to Government Code Section 94954.2,
the agenda was posted on Thursday September 6, 2001
D. Oral Communications- Commissioner Peepari reported that the Orchard
Master Plan was approved by the City Council. Corrunissioner Grens presented
some preliminary work for the HPC calendar. Commissioner Ballingall gave a
short presentation about herself and some of her interests in Saratoga including
preservation of the Heritage Orchard.

II. Old Business
A. Design Signage for the Orchard adopt a tree kiosk — Commission Chair
Kopernik explained that he is working on two designs for the sign and will
bring them forward as soon as they are completed.
B. Establish a Mission Statement — This item was continued to the next meeting
for final review.
C. Heritage Tours — Continued discussion on possible tours. It was recommended
that the Hakone Gardens be part of the tour.
III. New Business
A. Review application to demolish an existing home at 20269 Thelma Avenue.
The horn was built in 1947. The applicant is proposing a new one -story
home. Staff updated the Commission on the structure and explained the
procedures for reviewing structures over 50 years old.
B. 14625 Fruitvale Avenue, (Saso Herb Garden) A report by a Historic
Architect is being conducted to review the historic significance of the
property. This item was continued to the next meeting pending completion
of the report.

A. Update on the Log Cabin on Quito Road -Staff updated the Commission
explaining that the Log Cabin was found to have no historical significance and built
within last 30 years.
