MINUTES

I. Routine Organization
A. Roll Call- Koepernik, King, Peck, Ballingall, Grens
ABSENT - Peepari, Wyman
GUESTS -Stan Bogosian, Danielle Surdin, Jill Hunter, Dave Anderson,
Larry Schuck
B. Approval of minutes from 12/ 11 /01- Approved 6 -0
C. Posting of the Agenda - Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2,
the agenda was posted on Thursday January 3, 2002
D. Oral Communications -Norm Koepernik announced that a joint meeting
with the City Council will be held January 22, 2002.
E. Written Communications -None
II. Old Business
A. Design Signage for the Orchard adopt a tree kiosk — Review two options
Coordinate the final design with the Library Development Committee- Norm
Koepernik made a presentation about the kiosk and presented two different
concepts. One concept used orchard disks and the other was a more modern
design with a large slab. Both concepts allowed for the mounting or engraving
of names for each of the trees in the orchard. Norm also discussed creating a
foundation for funds donated for the adopt a tree program.
B. Heritage Tours — Continue discussion
C. Orchard events and ideas. Work with Park and Rec. on ideas
D. Continue planning for the Mustard Walk that is scheduled for Sunday
February 10, 2002, I IAM to 3PM.- Danielle Surdin gave an update on the
advertising for the Mustard Walk
III. New Business
A. On November 13, 2001 the developer for the project at 14221 Saratoga —
Sunnyvale Road submitted a request for a street name. The name Terrace
Court was selected based on the old boarding house that used to be located
there called The Terrace. The applicant would like the HPC to consider an
alternative to that name. Some of the applicant's suggestions are Terrace
Oaks, Village View, The Terrace, or a combination of any of the above. -The
applicant made a short presentation to the Commission. Several names were
discussed by the commission with the final name of "The Terrace" being
agreed upon by both the Commission and the applicant.
IV. Items Initiated by the Commission
A. Create calendar of old historic photos
B. Austin Way- Heritage Lane designation
C. Grant Ideas
D. Removal of Oak trees in the Heritage Orchard
E. HFC Month
V. Items Initiated by the Secretary
Update on budget request -Dave Anderson reviewed the draft budget request and
said that the City will try to support each item as they come up instead of
approving the entire request up front.

RE: Mustard Walk, TUP -01 -007
The Temporary Use Permit for the Mustard Walk to be held on February 10, 2002, from 11AM to
3PM has been approved subject to the following conditions:
1. The event shall take place Sunday, February 10, 2002 from 11AM to 3PM.
2. All requirements of the Santa Clara County Sheriff and the Saratoga Fire district shall be
met.
3. Signs shall not be located in the public right -of -way or on utility poles.
4. Approval from the County Health Department shall be obtained if food is to be sold in
connection with the activities.
This memorandum shall constitute the Temporary Use Permit.
