A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
SUPPORTING MEASURE AA, REGIONAL OPEN SPACE —
ACCESS, PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION BOND
WHEREAS, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space Board of Directors voted to place a
general obligation bond measure on the June 3, 2014 ballot; and
WHEREAS, approval of the bond measure by voters in the District, which includes
portions of Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz Counties, would allow the District to seek up
to $300 million in general obligation bonds; and
WHEREAS, residents in the district would pay a property tax assessment not to exceed
$3.18 per $100,000 assessed value per year; and
WHEREAS, the measure would fund projects the District's 25 highest priority project and
will result in expanded public access to protected land, protection of redwood forests, land and
natural habitat restoration, and preservation of agricultural land along the San Mateo Coast; and
WHEREAS, the Saratoga -to- the -Sea trail is ranked 18 among the 25 highest priority
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District projects; and
WHEREAS, the measure would improve recreational opportunities for Saratoga residents
by increasing access to hiking and biking trails, as well as restore and protect natural habitats in
the District, improve the scenic beauty of the region, and reduce forest fire risk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga does
hereby supports Measure AA, Regional Open Space — Access, Preservation and Restoration Bond
on the June 2, 2014 ballot.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga
City Council held on the 2nd day of April 2014 by the following vote:
