Printed March 2014 — www.saratogahistory.com Welcome to the Blossom Festival March 22, 2014 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Produced by the Saratoga Historical Foundation Sponsored by the City of Saratoga Dedication This year's Blossom Festival is dedicated to the memory of Vince Garrod and Willys Peck. Both were dedicated to service to the community of Saratoga and to preserving its heritage. History of the Blossom Festival The Blossom Festival originated in 1900 to celebrate the end of a two -year drought. Sunshine Williams came up with the idea to invite people to celebrate the beauty of the blossoming orchards and to enjoy the hospitality of Saratoga. Each year the festival grew larger and larger reaching 20,000 people one year. The festival ended prior to World War II but the memory of the festival lives on. The mission of this Blossom Festival is to commemorate and preserve the memory of its historic celebration and of Saratoga's agricultural and community- focused life.
