ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes
DATE: Tuesday, June ]8, 2013

Saratoga, CA 95070
1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by the Chair at 4:OOpin
2. Roll Call: Present: Stallman, Swan, Waltonsmith; City liaison Harvancik; Absent: Cosyn
3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: Confirmed by staff
4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: No changes
5. Approval of Minutes: March meeting minutes approved
6. Oral and Written Communication: None
7. Old Business
• Blue Hills School Crossing update (reconnect Saratoga) - Staff is contacting UP
RR about Right of Way (ROW)permits and VTA about funding. The City has some
money to kick in as part of the Council adopted 2013 CIP project budget. Staff will
work closely with VTA to see that one or both of their 2 funding sources are secured
to cover the rest. The Air District has a Ti^ansportation Fund for Clean Air for which
VTA is seeking candidate p�ojects that reduce 1 mile car trips -something that is
characteristic of this project.
• Quarry Property Update - The Plan Design consultant will solicit public input at
the next Pa�ks and Recreation Commission (PRC) meeting.
• Capital Improvement Projects related to trails - The adopted CIP list was
reviewed. It is located on the city web site in the 2013/14 City Hall/Finance/
Budget document pages D-5 and D-80.
8. Staff Report
• Let's Walk Saratoga! Two more walks hosted by PRC, start at 9:30am:
— Saturday, July 13th at Villa Montalvo
— Saturday, August 24th at Parker Ranch
• Movie nights planned in El Quito Park at 7:30pm:
— Friday, June 21-National Treasure
—Friday, July 19- Tangled
— Friday, Augustl6- The Parent Trap
• Joint meeting with the City Council and PRC is scheduled for September 4, 2013
6:00 to 7:00 pm.
9. New Business
• Joe's Trail Gap - The reopening of the Fredericksburg neighborhood access along
with the new c�osswalkgoing in crossing Cox at Cumberland will mitigate this gap.
10. Reports
• Pending trails updates - Garrod trails are being constructed currently by the
property owner. Trail construction is ongoing along HWY 9 Saratoga- Los Gatos
Rd.
• Member reports - Goathead weeds (puncture vine) were confirmed to be
eradicated from trafficked areas throughout the city eXcept a small pocket at
Foothill School, a couple of portions of Joe's Trail east of Cox and west of Saratoga
Avenue, and along Sobey Road at Marshall Lane School - where they were treated
or removed for this year.
11. Action Items Summary-Waltonsmith will seek out data on students of Blue Hills
School who are cut off by the RR crossing closure and Stallman will provide a write-up
of the crossing safety project for use in seeking funding.
