ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes
DATE: Tuesday, January 21, 2014

1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by the Chair at 4:OOpm
2. Roll Call: Present: Stalbnan, Cosyn, Swan, Waltonsmith; City liaison Ha�^vancik
3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: So done
4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: Moved Minutes approval to after Old Business
5. Oral and Written Communication: None
6. Old Business:
• Blue Hills School Safety Crossing update (Reconnect Saratoga)—TFCA
grant—submitting a letter of support froin the committee was approved
• Quarry Park Master Plan update—
- The website for the project is

- Staff inet with San Jose Water Company and submitted a formal
request to investigate the crossing of their property with a trail.
- Nine people attended to request that the park include mountain bike
trails. Connectivity out of the top of park to Stuart Ridge and over to
El Sereno Open Space was also �equested. It was offe�ed that
inountain bike organization members could assist in trail construction.
- Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto was identified as an example where
trails are provided for mountain bikes to augment the park trail
systein.
- The date for the 4`� workshop to be held by the planning consultants
has not been announced yet but is expected to be in March or May.

7. Approval of Minutes: November minutes approved
8. Staff Report:
• No trail maintenance has been needed due to the dry winter
• Wildwood Park bridge will be getting a new deck and railings
• City VTA BPAC rep resigned and a new rep is being sought
9. New Business:
• Congress Springs Park Northside Access path - This proposed path
would restore the Prides Crossing neighborhood connection to Congress
Springs Park that was lost when the West T�alley 85 Extension Freeway was
put in. Comments may be submitted to the SR85 HOT project asking for
allowance for this connection to be restored with a pathway�^unning along the
inside of the freeway sound wall akin to what is in place elsewhere in Santa

• Trash receptacles - Trash along roadways and school pathways is a problem
in some areas. Suggestions for eliminating the problem include monitoring
and correcting waste collection operations, engaging school administrations,
and providing trash cans along the streets and trails.
• Bridge Plan for Quito Road-B�idge drawings showing right of way and
alignments were reviewed
• Route 9 Bicycle Improvement Plan including Quito Road Intersection -
Measures for calming westbound traffic approaching Quito Rd. intersection
were proposed
10. Action Items Summary:
•Ray to recommend action regarding trash on roadways and t�ails
•Marianne to investigate a trail constr�uction opportunity in the Mt. Eden trails
network for a property which has recently changed hands which already has an trail
easement on it
