Meeting Minutes- April 19, 2016
Summary of Meeting
Captain Rick Sung discussed the importance of having the Traffic Safety Commission take the
lead for outreach to community regarding public safety.
Traffic Safety Commissioners agreed that their goal would be to come up with a few activities/
opportunities to help educate residents about public safety.
The Commissioners also agreed that they will put together a plan for the City Council that city
staff or volunteers would eventually implement.
Below is a Draft Plan of Opportunistic Outreach Activities:
OUTREACH ACTIVITY GROUP ASSIGNED
1) Create Magnet with Safety Info- City staff will order magnets and
distribute at City events.

2) Coordinate National Night Out with Sheriff’s Office and at the
event, pass out magnets and disseminate information about how
to start a Neighborhood Watch program in specific
neighborhoods.

may include CERT groups
3) City Commissioners to disseminate public safety information at
Commission meetings and respective neighborhoods.

4) Creation of a webpage that provides information about City’s
public safety efforts.

5) Revisit existing Neighborhood Watch groups and find out if they
would like to recharge their existing groups.

6) Develop median banners that communicate “keep City safe”
message.

7) Create calendar of events to show event opportunities to educate
residents by distributing public safety information.
