ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes
DATE: Tuesday, July 19, 2016
TIME: 4:00 pm
LOCATION: City of Saratoga Planning Conference Room, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue,
Saratoga, CA 95070
1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by the Chair at 4:00pm
2. Roll Call: Present: Stallman, Swan; City liaison Harvancik. Absent: Waltonsmith
3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: So done
4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: No change
5. Approval of Minutes: Minutes for January 19, 2016 meeting approved
6. Oral and Written Communication:
Inquiries concerning the following (now fixed by city crews):
• Carnelian Glen Trail tree crossing boardwalk
• Bollard in front of City Hall not having reflector tape
• Hakone Trail up from Big Basin Way needing debris removal & trail work
• Storm grates fronting Village Bus Stops wrong type – replaced with correct ones
7. Old Business
• Blue Hills Safety Railroad Crossing update: Senator Beall hosted a meeting with
CPUC reps. A subsequent meeting will be held with UP RR including a site visit.
• Prospect Rd. Complete Streets Project: 80% Design is completed
• Anza Trail Certification update: NPS has reviewed the agreement
• Garrod Trail connection to Parker Ranch Open Space: Parker Ranch Assoc. to
consider approval in the coming week; Garrod side is working up signs – easement
details still in process – trail is built
• Bicycle rack locations: added site to Prospect Rd. project at Miller bus stop
• Safe Routes to School Maps: Initial markup drafts submitted – patterned after
what Mt. View has
8. Staff Report & Upcoming events:
• Villa Oaks major repair completed – retaining wall will be upgraded next year
• City-wide trail weed abatement completed in May
• Douglass connector will be cleaned up
• Quarry Park – upper trail being completed this summer
• Quito Bridge replacement – private property acquisition is in process

10. Reports (information only, no actions to be taken)
• Jim described the latest VTA campaign to sacrifice bus area coverage to increase
frequency elsewhere – it should be noted that last month, the “neighbors” in
Alameda County launched “AC Go – More Buses More Often”

• All are encouraged to get out on to your favorite trail and then try out a new one
