Minutes

Call to Order 7:05
Roll Call: Agrawal, Chang, Chien, Finch, Lee, Khare (late: 7:31), R. Pandya, Smith,
Sreedhara, Tang, Vijay.
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this
meeting was properly posted on December 28, 2012.
Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code
Section 54954.2.

Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission
about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not
comment on the matter, but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda.
OLD BUSINESS
I. Teen Friendly Business Award
a. Update from commissioners
1. Togo’s – Kaitlin, SYC : No
2. Coffee Grinds – Mercedes, SYC : Try again
3. Prolific Oven – Jane, SYC : Try again
4. Blue Rock Shoot – Nihar, SYC : Try again, follow up emails
5. Starbucks (all 3 locations)
a. Argonaut Center – Shefali, SYC : Left information
b. Quito – Sarah, SYC : No
6. Peet’s Coffee – Anu, SYC : Will follow up
7. Rose Donuts – Somya, SYC
8. La Cueva – Sierra, SYC : Yes
9. Round Table – Ruchi, SYC : Will follow up
Goal: By Monday--have a response/ at least 1~2 more shops
b. Monday’s meeting with Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Advisory Council (CCYAC)
(Kaitlin, Sierra, Anu, Mercedes)
1. Update
a. Saratoga Bagels said yes
b. Set up another meeting to talk about award and follow up
c. With CCYAC, create FB page to gain opinions from teens
1.Status – create poll after finalized the shops to open voting to teens
d. Integrate Redwood MS?
- Yes, integrate via FB poll or put in announcements
- Wait until we have finalized businesses
e. Next Step
- Update on businesses then set up informal meeting with CCYAC
- Email responses to Kaitlin & Adam by Monday
- Have a winner by end of February
II. Saratoga Radio (1610 AM) – Kaitlin, Sarah, Shefali
a. Update, Meet Monday 1/14 – 4 PM

III. WOW – Walk One Week 2013
a. Two schools (contact schools)
1. Argonaut – email the principal - Kaitlin
2. Saratoga – meet with principal in-person, email - Mercedes
a. Meet with them in person 1/24: Ruchi, Somya, Nihar, Mercedes
b. Dates
1. Argonaut: School #1: 3/15 – assembly; 3/18 – WOW; 4/5 – prizes
2. Saratoga: School#2: 4/5 assembly; 4/8 – WOW; 4/22 – prizes

1. Suggestions/Donations
2. Ask TFBA winner to donate prize/ future candidates
3. Nihar – electronic newspaper prize
4. Air time on the Radio
5. Grand Prize – Ipod
