Pandya (absent), Smith, Sreedhara (absent), Tang, Vijay. Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this meeting was properly posted on January 22, 2013. Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2. Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter, but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. OLD BUSINESS I. JW House a. Review - cleaned grout around tiles - next time: make dinner at JW House as group b. Photo Release Form - email/scan to Adam II. Teen Friendly Business Award 1. Update a. Coffee Grinds – Mercedes, SYC - will call back, most likely no b. Prolific Oven – Jane, SYC - most likely no c. Starbucks (Argonaut Center) – Shefali, SYC - no because chain company d. Peet’s Coffee – Anu, SYC - no because chain company e. Rose Donuts – Somya, SYC - no f. Round Table – Ruchi, SYC - no 2. Businesses willing to participate: a. Saratoga Bagels & La Cueva - suggestions for deal: two for one burrito/drink, for certain period of time 3. Update with Chamber? - email Chad to figure out which businesses said yes and their voting results and then create Facebook Group to poll for favorite teen business - invite Chamber to our next meeting - open poll up to all Facebook friends - post rubric with the poll - try and have all of the results by the next meeting - at next meeting: decide which business wins/when to give business the certificate III. Saratoga Radio (1610 AM) a. Reschedule meeting with Manini & Redwood Middle School - get Redwood involved o Multimedia teacher will involve extra credit assignment - 2/6, 4:45 PM meeting – at city hall IV. WOW – Walk One Week 2013 a. Two schools (contact schools) 1.Argonaut - follow-up email to find out dates for meeting 2.Saratoga - call to follow-up, give Ms. Ales a week and then contact Foothill (Jane) b. Dates 1.School #1: 3/15 – assembly; 3/18 – WOW; 4/5 – prizes, 2.School#2: 4/5 assembly; 4/8 – WOW; 4/22 – prizes c. Prizes 1.Suggestions/Donations - electronic publication subscriptions (Nihar) - Grand Prize: Ipod Shuffle, Donate $10 per commissioner or might be able to get it for free (Shefali) - $2 Baskin Robbin Coupons – runner-up prize - Yogurtland prize (Shefali) - front of the line lunch passes - principal for a day d. YC individual roles - come up with when dates get closer - assistance from Chamber and Library Teen Advisory Board - extend information to Library Teen Advisory Board for next meeting – ask for help with stickers NEW BUSINESS V. Mark Your Calendar: a. Mustard Faire – Saturday, March 23 - may be able to volunteer with games, etc. b. JT Council Meeting – Wednesday, May 1st @ 5:00 p.m. - will start preparing speeches soon - focus on what the youth commission wants to do in the future c. Rotary Art Show – 1st Sunday in May (5/5) - volunteer - they give money back to commission – raised lots of money in past VI. Agenda Items for Next Meeting: February 12, 2013 - meet with Chamber about TFBA - finalize TFBA - follow-up on WOW schools VII.
