Organization Attendees: Denise Goldberg, Chair Bill Brooks, Citizen Advisor Jim Stallman, Citizen Advisor Iveta Harvancik, Staff Cathleen Casey, Citizen II. Administration None III. Oral and Written Communication Kathleen Casey made the following requests: How to obtain meeting minutes? What is relationship of Trails Committee to Parks and Recreation Commission? How many tax dollars has the Trails Committee spent? IV. Old Business A. David Stallman’s Eagle Project – David described the puncture vine eradication project which he completed for his Eagle project. The project binder with photos and description was reviewed. The project resulted in 150 gallons of weed (with seeds still attached) removed from routes to schools throughout Saratoga. B. Parker Ranch Conservation Project – More than 50% complete after 2 of 4 scheduled work dates. Two property owners helped and were pleased with the progress. Dirt conditions were ideal for digging. Next dates are April 5th and 19th. No evidence of illicit trail use since first work date. Saratoga News story was shown. C. Bicycle Deficiencies Plan – Summarized Committee comments noting that VTA money is available to upgrade/fix roads if they are a designated Bike Facility. A clarification was asked for the committee, although sending along in the comments that they were “open to the idea of deleting some bike routes” instead indicate to whoever is acting on comments that the committee recognizes that Big Basin Way and Pierce need to remain as Bike Routes so that some sections can be made safer. Big Basin has the blind turn just down from Pierce and Pierce also has some deficit shoulders in the first half mile section from Sunnyvale Saratoga Road. VTA money could even be used to create a bypass bike path opposite the poor sight line section of Big Basin Way once it becomes park land – something presently in the works. Mt. Eden should also remain a bike route since it is popularly used as one. D. Bicycle Intersection Survey – The spreadsheet has been turned in and is being evaluated by Public Works. E. Deer Train Court – no update, this was last reported as needing action on the part of the requestor property owner to do a survey. The request looked to be doable and an improvement to the present trail alignment. 2 V. Reports Bill reported on Garrod Trail. Bill took a photo of a new construction bridge that represented a great value in design and construction. Anza Trail – city is working on the easement legalities with PG&E also corridor has been defoliated again this year – by whom is unknown. VI. Action Items None
