I. Organization
Attendees:
Denise Goldberg, Chair
Bill Brooks, Citizen Advisor
Jim Stallman, Citizen Advisor
Ray Cosyn, Citizen Advisor
Iveta Harvancik, Staff
Bob Sutterfield, Citizen
II. Administration
Minutes approved for April with correction to Iveta’s name.
III. Oral and Written Communication
Bob Sutterfield spoke objecting to Highway 9 shoulder conversion to bike lane’s saying
that the change limits the civil rights of bicyclists with no offsetting benefit. He said that
he didn’t take full advantage of public input opportunities to express his position on the
change in meetings prior to project execution.
IV. Old Business
A. Parker Ranch Conservation Project – This project is now closed. The city sent a
letter to each of the affected property owners. It was noted that liability defense and
indemnification is now part of any City Trail easement contract with provate property
owners. The County does this already.
B. Bicycle Facilities Improvement Map – At the Public Safety Commission (PSC)
meeting the Trails Committee recommendation to not drop Bike Route designations for
Mt. Eden, Pierce, and Big Basin roads was expressed. The PSC is asking the City
Attorney to comment on City liability for roads signed as being Bike Routers. A
suggestion at the present Trails Meeting recap was made that probably better signage is
needed.
V. New Business
A. Village Creek Trail – proposed trail would go between Sunnyvale-Saratoga and
Wildwood Park with a possible connection to Hakone.
B. CIP Priority Rankings – Committee vote tally in descending order: Restrooms,Lower
Tank Trail, Village Creek Trail, De Anza Phase 2, Azule Park Play Court, Orchard Park
Sign.
C. Swenson Development Proposal – Sidewalk/path along Quito doesn’t show in
developer proposal but this will be addressed by staff. Discussion ensued about possible
trail along creek and/or connection across creek to Montpere Way. It was noted that
Campbell has a trail planned along San Tomas Creek downstream of this development.
D. Summer Meeting Schedule – Adopted June 10th, cancelled July, return to regular
meeting schedule 3rd Tuesday in August.

VI. Reports
Heritage Orchard Trail – The trail is presently under construction and will run along the
creek and then out to Saratoga Avenue along the boundary with Sacred Heart Church.
Cox Connector Trail to Brookglen Park – The trail from the park out to Cox is happening
as part of the adopted subdivision plan.
Deer Trail – Relocation ran into complications once the actual property lines were
determined. Trail realignment will now have to be constructed around and on top of the
swale instead of along it,
House Trail – House will dedicate an easement for a connector trail through his property
out towards Quarry Road. Two properties between the House property and Quarry Road
would also need easements to facilitate completing this link. House will relocate the
upper Tank Trail to off of his property himself as part of the overall end of Old Oak Way
abandonment agreement approved by the City Council.
Member Reports
It was requested to provide an update to Signal Detector Loop upgrade plan in Old
Business at future meetings.
