Meeting Minutes
DATE: Tuesday, June 19, 2012

LOCATION: City of Saratoga Administrative Conference Room, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga,

1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by the Chair at 4:00pm
2. Roll Call: Present: Cooley, Cosyn, Stallman, Swan; staff: Harvancik; Absent: Waltonsmith
3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: So done
4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: Accepted
5. Approval of Minutes: Approved April meeting minutes
6. Oral and Written Communication: - email from Bill Brooks requesting Equestrians Only sign on
path reaching County line along Mt. Eden Rd.
7. Old Business
• Saratoga Avenue sidewalk – work is ongoing
• Bike rack policy as part of Let’s Move Initiative to encourage more physical activity
in Saratoga – Planning Commission is next stop
8. Staff Report
• Joe’s Trail bridges – Rodeo Creek is in place, Saratoga Creek is being installed
• Annual trail maintenance completed for Parker Ranch, San Marcos, and Mt. Eden
• Parker Ranch trailhead way finding symbols are now painted on the street
• Path connecting Titus to traffic crossing signal at Johnson is completed
• Let’s Walk event held last Saturday at Joe’s Trail – Parks and Recreation Commission has
more walks planned
• Planning Commission is taking the lead in reopening the Fredericksburg access path to Joe’s
Trail
9. New Business
• Introduction of new VTA BPAC representative Christie Cooley – welcome
• Considering adding Joe’s Trail to National Trail Map through TrailLink.com –
approved
• Joint meeting with City Council and PRC scheduled for Wednesday September 5 from
6:00 to 7:00 pm - announced
10. Reports (information only, no actions to be taken)
• Pending trails updates – Joe’s Trail extension to Prospect
• Member reports – For bikes it is good to favor shoulder width on the uphill side of the road
and keep shoulders clear of debris on pavement and brush/tree encroachment
11. Action Items Summary
– determine how many train trips run along Joe’s Trail – this may have bearing on the Blue Hills
School RR Crossing Safety Upgrade VTA project
12. Adjournment to Next Regularly Scheduled Meeting:
– Probably no meeting in August
