Call to Order 7:07
Roll Call: Agrawal, Chang, Chien, Finch (absent), Lee, Khare (absent), R. Pandya, Smith,
Sreedhara, Tang, Vijay.
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this
meeting was properly posted on November 5, 2012.
Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section
54954.2.
Approval of October 9th and 22nd Minutes Ruchi & Jane
Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any
matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment
on the matter, but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda.
I. Political Forum
a. Review/Analysis
1.Successful
2.Dialogue in third round was more laid-back
3.Partnering with Cupertino Commission helped a lot
b. Suggestions for future forums
1.Saratoga teens weren’t interested in FUSD portion
2.Take away school district and start at state level
3.Make third round longer
4.Teacher extra credit helped
5.Try other topics? With other topics, try a different approach to make it
effective/appeal to teens
6.Bullying topic – assembly for younger children? Middle or elementary
school?

III. Tree Lighting Ceremony
a. 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 23rd @ Blaney Plaza (Downtown Village)
b. Proposed Project
- Help to write letters to wounded soldiers in the area
- Many soldiers came back with emotional/physical problems
- set up table and chairs and help children write the letters/facilitate the booth
IV. Future SYC Events
a. WOW – Walk One Week 2012/2013
1. 3/18 – assembly 3/25 – school 1, 4/1 – assembly/prizes, 4/8 – school 2,
4/22 – prizes
2. 2 schools out of 3: Argonaut, Saratoga Elementary, Foothill
3. propose plan to school principals after winter break
b. TFBA – Schedule?
1. Talk to businesses first and get consent on special deals
2. Poll on Facebook to get opinions from teens
3. join with Chamber of Commerce Youth Council?
1. Invite them to our next meeting? 12/11?
c. Community Service – JW House
1. Next to Kaiser, spend 3-4 hours: cooking/cleaning/hanging out with kids
that are there
2. 8-10 people
3.12/22, 1/12, 1/19 – Sat. morning (approx. 9-12)
4. Open it up to other teens?

1. Post photos up, add more people

1. update brochure and Facebook page
2. keep posting new events (ie. TFBA, WOW, etc.)
2. Create a Youtube Channel?
1. Post Pizza and Politics video
2. Make small videos for every event that we go to

1. Post photos on individual accounts to promote Youth Commission

1. Continue on from Project Cornerstone?
2. Difficult due to lack of representation at Redwood
