The Williamson Act
(California Land Conservation Act of 1965)
Assists property owners with agricultural uses by providing property tax relief in the
form of a lower assessment in exchange for their voluntary commitment to the
long-term preservation the agricultural and open space uses on their property.
Current requirements
•Properties required to be in zoning district “A” (agriculture)or rezoning
required
•100 acre minimum (unless findings can be met by municipalities)
Proposed Changes
•Includes properties within the “HR” district to be able to enter into
the contract with the City without re -zoning
•Allows for smaller properties within these zone districts to apply to
enter into a Williamson Act (10 acre minimum)
Recommended Action
Approve Resolution amending Resolution 549
