STORY POLE REGULATIONS
City Council Direction March 18, 2015
•Determine and consider cost implications for homeowners and applicants.
•Improvement and verification of story pole accuracy.
•Recognition of potential grading/building pad height modifications.
•Documenting finished grade and finished floor measurements.
•Consider graduated height measurements.
•Consideration of story pole materials (orange netting, ridge flags, etc.).
•Consider unique situations/special circumstance where additional requirement in addition to story poles
may be warranted (hillsides, historic structures, ridgelines, etc.).
•Explore both City Code and administrative changes (e.g. application materials, illustrations, etc.)

Draft Ordinance
•Improves story pole accuracy (certification letters, surveys)
•Recognizes potential grading/building pad height modifications
•Documents proposed finished grade and finished floor measurements
•Includes graduated height measurements
•Includes required story pole materials (metal, wood, orange netting, ridge flags)
•Allows Consideration for alternatives to story poles due to unique situations or special circumstances
•Considers Recently Adopted City Code and administrative changes.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
1.Conduct a public hearing.
2.Introduce and waive the first reading of the ordinance.
3.Direct staff to place the ordinance on the Consent Calendar for adoption at the next regular
meeting of the City Council.
