Coexisting with Coyotes
Saratoga is a semi-rural community with trail and creek systems, open space, and wildlife. Wild
animals, including coyotes, are frequently spotted in the City’s low-land areas. For resources
and information about coyotes, what to do if you encounter one, and how to deter them and
keep your pets safe, visit www.saratoga.ca.us/coyotes
Large Animal Identification
While it is the owner’s responsibility to evacuate large animals in the event of a disaster, the
volunteer Santa Clara County Large Animal Evacuation Team (SCCLAET) may be called on to
assist. Fill out the animal ID form at http://bit.ly/LargeAnimalID, submit a photo, and attach the
form to the animal’s stable or corral to help during evacuations. Visit www.scclaet.org

Q: How do I know if I need a business license, and how much do they cost?
A: Congratulations on starting your business! If your businesses is located in or
operating in Saratoga, you are required to have a license issued by the City. This
applies to all businesses, including home based businesses, anyone registering
a fictitious business name, obtaining a seller’s permit, leasing residential and/or
commercial property, or performing contract work.
Licenses allow the City to make sure businesses are located in an area appropriate
for the business use. Businesses licenses vary depending on the type of business you have, and
the City charges a minimal business license fee that helps fund infrastructure and services for
businesses and customers alike. The application process takes a few weeks.
Please call me at 408.868.1260 or visit www.saratoga.ca.us/buslicense for additional information
and requirements, including the Business License Application, Tax and Fee Worksheet, and helpful
Business License Guide.
