2. Routine Organization:
a. Roll Call
b. Review of minutes from August 8, 2017 meeting.
c. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2 the agenda was
properly posted on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
d. Non-Agendized Communications - Any member of the public may address the
Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes.
e. HPC direction to staff regarding non-agendized communications - Commissioners may
not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda.

Any recommendation made by the Heritage Preservation Commission may be appealed to the
Planning Commission within ten (10) days of the date of the decision. The appeal shall be taken
by filing with the Secretary of the Heritage Preservation Commission a written notice and filing
fee within ten (10) days of the date of the decision.
In accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, copies of the staff reports and other materials
provided to the Heritage Preservation Commission by City staff in connection with this agenda
are available at the office of the Community Development Department Director at 13777
Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga, California 95070. Any materials distributed by staff after the
posting of the agenda are made available for public review at the office of the Director at the
time they are distributed to the Heritage Preservation Commission.

2. Routine Organization:
a. Roll Call
Present: Shah, Stransky, Cappello, Rodgers, Schuck, Nugent
Absent: Marchetti (Excused)
Staff: Kwon, Baily, Williams (briefly attended)
b. Review of minutes from July 11, 2017 meeting. Stransky/Nugent moved to approve
the July 11, 2017 minutes.
Ayes: Cappello, Nugent, Rodgers, Schuck, Shah, Stransky
Noes: None
Absent: Marchetti
c. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956, the agenda was
properly posted on August 3, 2017. Kwon reported the posting of the agenda.

3. New Business:
a. 14041 Saratoga Avenue (re-roof on a Heritage Lane)
The Commission recommended approval of the project as proposed with either the

Autumn Blend or the Shadow Grey for the Presidential TL shingles.
Stransky/Nugent moved to recommend approvals.

4. Staff Comments:
a. Heritage Orchard
Kwon discussed current practice. HPC strongly encouraged the use of best
practices and wanted coordination between Orchardist and Public Works.
b. HPC Interpretation
Staff requested clarification regarding HPC review reroofs along the Heritage Lane
portion of Saratoga Avenue. The HPC would like to continue to review reroofs
along Heritage Lane.
5. Commissioner Comments:
a. Election of New Chair & Vice-Chair
Shah nominated Stransky as the new Chair. Nugent seconded the nomination.
Ayes: Schuck, Shah, Cappello, Conrado, Nugent, Stransky
Noes: None
Absent: Marchetti
Stransky nominated Marchetti as the new Vice-Chair. Shah seconded the
nomination.
