HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-04-2018 Heritage Trees - Power PointHeritage Tree Inventory April 4, 2018 Background •In 2011, the City established a process for nomination of Heritage Trees. •Qualifications of a heritage tree:•Outstanding specimen that possess good health, good structure and has the potential for a long life and•Possesses distinctive characteristics such as age, size type of species or location, and/or•Represents special aesthetic, social, cultural, educational, economic, agricultural or historic importance to the community. 13865 Yerba Santa Court Mexican Fan Palms Qualifications •Estimated age: 100 years + •Estimated height: 65 feet + •Health: Good •Historic: Once lined the driveway of Leland Howard Wakefield’s 104 acre estate known as Casa Bella. •Overall Importance: Trees represent historic, social and cultural characteristics. Recommended Action •City Arborist and Heritage Preservation Commission recommended approval of application and •City staff recommends removing a deceased tree from Inventory. •Adopt resolution adding the six Palm trees and removing the deceased tree to the Heritage Tree Inventory
