REPORT ON POSTING OF THE AGENDA
The agenda for this meeting was properly posted on August 9, 2018.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ON NON-AGENDIZED ITEMS
Any member of the public may address the Public Art Committee for up to three (3) minutes on
matters not on the Agenda. The law generally prohibits the Public Art Committee from
discussing or taking action on such items. However, the Public Art Committee may schedule the
item for discussion at a future meeting.
AGENDA ITEMS:
1. Public Art Committee Minutes
Recommended Action:
Review and approve the Public Art Committee minutes from April 5, 2018.
2. Public Art Priorities for Fiscal Year 2018/19
Recommended Action:
Discuss public art priorities for the 2018/19 fiscal year, including renewal of past efforts or
development of new initiatives.
3. Public Art Map
Recommended Action:
Review public art map and direct staff accordingly.
4. Wall Mural
Recommended Action:
Receive updates on wall mural artwork gift from Peter Mester, Pavel Mester; direct staff
accordingly.
5. Future Meetings
Recommended Action:
Discuss agenda topics and scheduling of future meetings.

PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
The Public Art Committee regular meeting was called to order at 12:50 p.m. in the City Hall,
Administrative Conference Room at 13777 Fruitvale Avenue in Saratoga.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Mayor Mary-Lynne Bernald, Council Member Emily Lo
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: James Lindsay, City Manager
Crystal Bothelio, Deputy City Manager
REPORT ON POSTING OF THE AGENDA
Deputy City Manager Crystal Bothelio reported that the agenda for this meeting was properly
posted on March 27, 2018.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ON NON-AGENDIZED ITEMS

AGENDA ITEMS:
1. Public Art Committee Minutes
Recommended Action:
Review and approve the Public Art Committee minutes from March 8, 2018.
LO/BERNALD MOVED TO APPROVE THE PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE MINUTES
FROM MARCH 8, 2018. MOTION PASSED. AYES: BERNALD, LO. NOES: NONE.
ABSTAIN: NONE. ABSENT: NONE.
2. Bloomberg Philanthropies
Recommended Action:
Discuss Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge.
The Public Art Committee discussed the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge and
agreed to keep it in mind for the future.
3. #SaratogaROCKS Update
Recommended Action:
Receive update on #SaratogaROCKS and direct staff accordingly.
Council Member Lo suggested conducting outreach for the program through the
#SaratogaROCKS Facebook group.

Mayor Bernald shared information about communications with the Kindness Project.
The Committee discussed the possibility of shortening the reservation period, the supplies
provided, and uses of the #SaratogaROCKS boxes.
4. Future Meetings
Recommended Action:
Discuss agenda topics and scheduling of future meetings.
The Committee discussed including the following items on future meeting agendas: Wall
Mural, Public Art Map, and priorities and initiatives for Fiscal Year 2018/19.

Subject: Public Art Map
At the Public Art Committee meeting on August 17, 2017, the Committee started discussing
development of a map showing locations in the City of Saratoga of artistic significance. The
Committee provided direction on the map at subsequent meetings and requested that the map
come back to the Public Art Committee after completion of Paint the City, the City’s utility box
painting project. A copy of the map is attached.
