Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this m eeting was properly post ed on September 6, 2018. Accept Agenda Items : No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2. Approval of September 4th minutes (Miller, Cheatham) Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on th e agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter, but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. 1. Tylor Taylor (executive director for SASCC) a. November 3rd 9am to 3pm b. Annual health fair i. Healthcare-provide activities, resources, for all ages. c. Held at West Valley College for building intergenerational community d. Looking for S.Y.C. participation-opportunity to outreach/support the event 2. Kim Nguy (Argonaut Elementary) a. Spring 2019 annual school carnival (300-400 people); April 27th b. Family gathering aimed for the community and the school c. Youth Commission to consider coming and hosting a booth for face painting and temporary tattoos I. Mayor Bernald a) Introduction b) Discussion a. We represent 9 different school districts b. Requested commissioners to really incorporate idea and to stress our role as liaisons between the youth and the city c. Stressing the importance of time management-balance work plan to not create additional stress in the lives of the commissioners II. Celebrating Differences Carnival a) Presentation a. September 22 – Carnival event for people with disabilities b) Vote for support a. Motioned to support the event-Smails/Second the motion-Wiles (Passed: 10 in favor: 1 abstain) III. Breathe California a) Presentation a. Flavor tobacco products – restriction of sale in Saratoga b. Looking for S.Y.C. to sign a letter of support to show restriction of Menthol sales in Saratoga IV. Superhero Dance a) Attendance V. State of Assembly D28 a) Monday, September 24 b) 5:30-7:30pm c) Campbell Community Center d) Attendance – Kayla needs to RSVP to Kathy Tran VI. Schedule Work Plan a) New Events a. Dog Social – Spring/Early May after finals or April (dog shelter/stress relief) b. Tree Planting – October/or push to Arbor Day April 26 (explore other options: our city forest, adopt a tree, village gardeners) i. Motion to vote: Smails/Second the Motion-Koneru (Passed: 8 yes-2 no-2 abstain) c. Kahoot – Fall (venue at MOD Pizza) d. Art Exhibition – Spring/January or February (can possibly work with senior center and display there) e. Movie with a Twist – Winter holiday movie (venue options: theater or in the Joan Pisani Community Center) i.
