MINUTES
January 8, 2019
8:30 AM REGULAR MEETING

1.Site Visit(s):

2.Call to Order: Vice Chair Dr. Jo Rodgers called the meeting to order at 9:13 AM
3.Roll Call-
Present: Vice Chair Dr. Jo Rodgers, Alexandra Nugent, Annette Stransky, and Rina Shah
Absent: Marilyn Marchetti
Staff: Debbie Pedro, Community Development Director and Nicole Johnson, Planner II
4.Oral Communications
None
5. Approval of December 11, 2018 minutes
Shah/Stransky moved to approve the minutes. Motion passed. Ayes: Shah, Stransky,
Nugent, and Rodgers. Noes: None. Absent: Marchetti
6.New Business:
a.14524 Oak Street- HPC considered and application for a 120 square foot addition along
the side of the residence. The commission discussed the proposed exterior materials and
if they are to match the existing residence. Shah/Stransky moved to recommend approval.
Motion passed. Ayes: Shah, Stransky, Nugent, and Rodgers. Noes: None. Absent:
Marchetti
b.12239 Titus Ave-HPC considered an application for a 907 square foot addition to the
rear/side of the residence and a interior remodel. Commissioner Shah suggested that the
pitch of the addition be revised to not be so consistent with the existing home and felt
that there were too many new windows proposed. Shah moved to recommend approval
with the modification/lowering of the pitch and reducing the amount of new windows.
Motion failed due to lack of second. Nugent/Stransky moved to recommend approval as
proposed. Motion passed. Ayes: Stransky, Nugent, and Rodgers. Noes: Shah. Absent:
Marchetti.

c. 2019 HPC Workplan- HPC and Staff discussed items to be placed on the 2019 workplan
for the Commission.
7. Staff Comments:
a. Nicole Johnson discussed the City’s new email policy.
8. Old Business:
a. The commission asked for an update on the Grover house
b. The commission discussed providing information to the owner of the John Henry House
to apply for the Mills Act
9. Commission Items
a. Commissioner Alex Nugent discussed a Santa Clara County grant program and
will put staff in contact with the representative at the County to acquire more
information.
b. Commissioner Nugent suggested that the HPC view a webinar on January 22,
2018, the subject is identifying and treating historic wood. The commission
agreed this would be a good training opportunity.
10. Adjournment
Vice Chair Dr. Jo Rodgers adjourned the meeting at 10:10 AM
